The 22-year-old woman was travelling with her family in their car towards Cubbon Park when they encountered waterlogging. Unfortunately, the underpass near KP Circle was submerged in water leading to the tragedy. The family and the driver were rescued while the woman could not survive the incident.

The newly sworn-in Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar has ordered a detailed report including 18 underpasses in Bengaluru to ensure the safety of citizens against such natural calamities. He promised that the government would do everything possible to prevent such incidents from recurring.

A video that surfaced on social media sparked off outrage and claims that a RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh) supporter Hindu woman was shot dead by Muslims in Kerala. In the 1:37 minutes long video, two bike-clad men can be seen stopping the car on the road and dragging the woman driver out of her vehicle. The situation escalates when one of them shot her while she resisted and tried to escape. Later, another man speaks to the crowd in the Malayalam language.

The video was shared on Twitter with a caption in Hindi, claiming that a woman who is a supporter of RSS was shot by Muslims. It soon went viral on other social media platforms like Facebook with a similar claim. Soon enough, people started to demand that Prime Minister Narendra Modi take action against the perpetrators.

However, it was discovered that this video is not a real tragedy but a clip from a street play. It was performed in 2017, at Kalikavu in the Malappuram district of Kerala in protest against the murder of journalist-activist Gauri Lankesh. The play was staged by the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) and its local branch secretary of DYFI played the woman’s character.

The lead character in the play spoke to the public, confirming that the woman was killed by the RSS and it was done as a warning to all who speak against them. The local Malayalam newspaper Mathrubhumi reported on it as well. Moreover, the actual footage of the play was shared on the official Facebook page of DYFI Kalikavu MC and CPIM Cyber Commune. Gauri Lankesh was shot dead outside her residence in Bengaluru, Karnataka, on September 5, 2017.

In conclusion, it can be confirmed that the viral video in question is false and it is from an old 2017 street play. Thus, the claim that Muslims murdered RSS supporter Hindu woman in Kerala is false and misleading. Reportedly, nine people were killed and multiple more injured in the explosion. However, an investigation conducted by The Logical Indian to determine the authenticity of the video revealed that the video was in fact from Kerala’s Kavassery Pooram Festival in 2022, and the claims of it being from West Bengal were false.

Reverse image searches conducted on the video’s frames led to a video uploaded by Beauty Palakkad, dated March 17, 2022, and titled, “Kavassery Pooram Daytime Fireworks 2022”. An extended version of the same video, uploaded on April 1, 2022, was titled “The birthplace of firecrackers Kavassery Pooram Day Fireworks 2022”. The nearby YouTube channels also uploaded the video, clarifying it to be from the visuals of Kavassery Pooram. Also, West Bengal Police had also sent out a tweet on March 18, 2023, denying the claims of the video being from Khadikul village.

Kavassery is a town located in the Palakkad district of Kerala, and Pooram refers to annual temple festivals held in Kerala. The video was taken at the festival in 2022, and was at least one year old and not from West Bengal.
