The accused, Atul, was seen mercilessly plucking out the bird’s feathers leading to its death, as a friend watched on. Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Gaurav Sharma said when the police went to his residence, Atul was not present. “We will make the arrest soon,” the DFO assured. He further added that a thorough investigation is underway.

The incident has raised concern among the people regarding animal cruelty. Uttar Pradesh recently saw a similar case of animal cruelty, when a biker was hit by a UP roadways bus and dragged for 12 kilometres in Etah. In Bihar, another man was killed in celebratory firing at a wedding in Chapra.
