Vijai cautions against rushing to Implement NEP

Goa Forward Party (GFP) president Vijai Sardesai recently called on the government to delay the implementation of the New Education Policy (NEP) until all stakeholders, such as the appointed teachers, have been consulted and onboarded. Sardesai warned that any premature implementation of NEP would be detrimental to the future of Goan children. He also highlighted that the Margao Municipal Council has failed in providing resources needed for the disposal of inerts at Sonsoddo.

GFP is an independent regionalist political party in Goa, which was formed in 2016. The party propagates its humble roots, regional pride, and sustainability policies. GFP has been widely credited for the implementation of a separate Solid Waste Management and Sewage Fund, which has significantly improved the condition of the waste management disposal system in Goa.

Vijai Sardesai has been the longtime president of GFP and is renowned for his straightforward approach to tackling difficult topics. Upgrading Rajouri Blood Bank and Laboratories to GMC Standards

The Government Medical College (GMC) Rajouri, led by Principal Dr AS Bhatia, is making great progress in terms of upgrading its existing blood bank and laboratory to match the level of other GMC-level medical institutions found in the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory. The laboratory will be outfitted with pathology, biochemistry, and microbiology laboratories, all of which will be outfitted with new equipment and improved analysis capabilities. This will allow patients in Rajouri to receive blood tests and other investigations without the need to travel to the Mehra Campus. Equally noteworthy are the plans to get the Blood Component Lab up and running, with the National Health Mission Scheme providing assistance with the same. This lab will be key in helping patients suffering from bleeding disorders, such as those associated with pregnancy and dengue fever, to quickly receive life-saving treatments. In addition, the microbiology laboratory is set to be capable of carrying out culture and sensitivity tests for various antibiotic-resistant infections, while the pathology lab will be capable of offering coagulation tests as well as histopathology and biopsy services.

In response, the Jammu and Kashmir government has acted to install both MRI and Cath Lab machines for the GMC Rajouri in the upcoming years. Regarding blood bank, there are no plans yet to transfer it from its current location. Q1 PC Shipment Decline — Notebooks Hit Hardest

The Indian personal computer (PC) market experienced a steep decline in shipments in the first quarter of CY2023. The results from the International Data Corporation (IDC) WorldWide Quarterly Personal Computing Device Tracker show a drop of 30.1% from the figures of the same quarter the previous year, amounting to a total of only 2.99 million units. This decrease in the market was especially prominent among notebooks, as they fared the worst.

UPSC Male Topper Mayur Hazarika of Assam Aims to Join Indian Foreign Service

Mayur Hazarika, the UPSC male topper from Assam, is proud to have secured the fifth rank among the successful male candidates in the civil service examination. The top four ranks of the civil service have been bagged by female candidates. Hazarika is an MBBS degree holder who aspired to join the civil service since he was in Class 12.

Hazarika is the eldest son of Assistant Executive Engineer Krishna Hazarika of Assam’s PWD and home maker Mousumi. He had secured 9th rank in the class 12 examination conducted by Assam Higher Secondary Education Council and 10th rank in the class 10 exam conducted by Secondary Education Board of Assam in 2013. While continuing his medical practice, Hazarika took online coaching for the civil services examination. He gave up the practice after clearing the preliminary examination and is keen to join the Indian Foreign Service.

KU’s South Campus Cricket Tournament Starts Now

An inter-department cricket tournament for men commenced at University of Kashmir’s South Campus recently. The tournament has been organized by the Department of Physical Education & Sports at the campus, with nine teams competing: teaching-11, non-teaching 11, and seven departments.

The tournament was opened officially by the Director of South Campus, Prof Mukhtar Ahmad Khanday who expressed his commitment to promoting sports activities among students and staff, and encouraged the participating teams. Assistant Director of Physical Education, Tausif Ahmad Bhat, welcomed the guests and shared details of the sports activities conducted in the last week.

The inaugural cricket match was contested between teaching-11 and non-teaching-11. Teaching-11 won the toss and chose to bat, recording a total of 92/5 in 10 overs. The top scorer was Ashfaq Ahmad who amassed 59 runs in 24 balls, while Dr Firdous Ahmad Shah contributed 14 runs. Mohammad Ayoub and Showkat Ahmad were the most successful bowlers for the opposing side, each claiming two wickets.

In response, non-teaching-11 was bowled out for 57/7 in 10 overs. Hilal Ahmad was the top scorer, scoring 14 runs for his team. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad was the star of the bowling attack, taking 3 wickets, and he was supported well by Dr. Mohamad Iqbal Bhat who picked up two wickets. This enabled teaching-11 to register a comprehensive win by 35 runs.

The University of Kashmir’s South Campus plays an important role in the promotion of sports activities and healthy competition in the region. This was characteristic of the enthusiasm displayed at the inter-department cricket tournament, with nine teams taking part and showcasing their talent. The tournament was well managed and organized without a hitch, bringing forth an energetic atmosphere and allowing for an exciting match.

Nagaland Board Results 2021: HSLC, HSSLC Exams 2023 Download Links and Marksheets

The Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) is set to announce the results of the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) and Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) examinations of 2023 today. The NBSE announced last week that it will make the results available, along with the marksheets, to all the institutions registered with the board.

Students can access their results and marksheets online from the board’s official website www.nbsenl.edu.in, as well as from several other external websites (check https://shorturl.at/btCV3 for details). Android users can also download the mobile app “NBSE Results 2023” from PlayStore to access the results. Additionally, the documents will be issued by the board to centre superintendents on May 29th and 30th, for distribution to the schools coming under each centre.

A total of 24,361 students were eligible to take part in the HSLC exams, out of which 11197 were male students and 13164 were female. Similarly, for the HSSLC exams 16084 students were enrolled to take part, out of which 8473 were females and 7612 were males. The examinations were held from March 10th to 22nd for HSLC and from March 9th to 31st for HSSLC.

The Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) was established in 1973 under the Nagaland Board of School Education Act, which is the regulatory body for school education in the state. The board is responsible for the executing policies laid down by the state government, framing criteria, and organizing the HSLC and HSSLC examinations. Stalin Mourns the Loss of Karumuttu Kannan

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin expressed sadness at the recent passing of industrialist Karumuttu T. Kannan and said his death was a huge loss. Throughout his lifetime, Kannan made tremendous contributions to industry, education and the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department, all of which will be remembered for years to come.

The Chief Minister has a long association with Kannan’s family; even before his term as Chief Minister, when he visited Madurai, Kannan would give him a warm welcome. In 2006, Kannan was named the “Fit Person” of the Sri Meenakshi Sundareswarar temple in Madurai and undertook extensive renovation work.

During M. Karunanidhi’s tenure, Kannan was appointed as a member of the State Planning Commission. He also headed Thiagarajar College of Engineering in Madurai, helping many underprivileged students access education. Upon Mr. Stalin’s ascension to office, he was enlisted as a member of the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department.

Former AIADMK coordinator O. Panneerselvam also expressed his condolences on the passing of Kannan, whom he called a brother. The AIADMK government honoured Kannan in 2015 with the Karmarajar Award.

Karumuttu T. Kannan was a successful industrialist who founded limited companies in the textile, tea and coffee industry. His entrepreneurial pursuits led to the establishment and growth of many companies in Tamil Nadu. Karumuttu Kannan was greatly involved in the technical and educational institutions in and around the Madurai area and was a role model for entrepreneurs in the state.
