Australia and India Sign Migration Pact During Prime Minister Modi’s Visit

On May 24, 2023, the Prime Ministers of Australia and India, Anthony Albanese and Narendra Modi, met in Sydney for official talks. During their meeting, the pair signed the Australia-India Migration and Mobility Partnership Arrangement, an agreement that will strengthen the mobility between the two countries. To further deepen their relationship, they also announced the terms of reference for a new Australia-India green hydrogen taskforce.

The Migration and Mobility Partnership Arrangement will promote the exchange of students, graduates, researchers, and business professionals between Australia and India. The two countries will also work together to fight human trafficking, while increasing cooperation between law enforcement authorities.

The Australia-India Green Hydrogen Taskforce aims to develop cooperation on clean energy transition. During the meeting, the prime ministers also discussed trade and investment, and agreed to conclude the Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement.

ESI Insured Persons to Get MBBS and BDS Seats in Mangaluru

The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has recently launched its medical education institutions in various parts of the country, with the option of MBBS and BDS seat reservation for the children of ESI-insured persons. Currently, 437 MBBS and 28 BDS seats are reserved for ESI-insured persons in colleges run by ESIC. Any person insured under the ESI scheme before 30th September 2022 is eligible to avail this opportunity for their children who have appeared in the NEET Exam 2023. Online application using the ‘candidate log in’ link is available on the ESIC website and must be completed before May 31, 2022.

2500 Seek Admission to Undergraduate Courses at Patna University in Just Three Days

Patna University (PU) has recently opened its doors for the upcoming 4-year undergraduate academic session (2023-24). In a span of three days, the university has received more than 2500 applications for the courses available. The last date for application submission is June 5th.

At PU, undergraduate students can avail education in arts, science, commerce and other vocational streams. The courses offered include: Patna College (930 seats), Patna Science College (750 seats), B N College (1130 seats), Magadh Mahila College (1156 seats), and Vanijya Mahavidyalaya (525 seats). Centre Grants Record 10.46 Billion Rupees Bifurcation Dues to Andhra Pradesh

The Central Government has sanctioned Rs 10,460.87 crore as compensation towards the revenue deficit incurred by Andhra Pradesh since its bifurcation in 2014. This is the biggest release of funds to the state thus far, which comes after a series of meetings between Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. These funds will be utilized by the state government to finance developmental projects as well as welfare and healthcare schemes.

The release of funds has been assumed to have mainly been due to CM Jagan’s persistent efforts in urging for the compensation previously promised to the state during its bifurcation. Tomorrow’s Result for MP Board Class 10th and 12th

Tomorrow, on the 25th of May, Madhya Pradesh School Education Minister Inder Singh Parmar has declared that the results of MP Board Class 10 and 12 will be made available to the public at 12.30 pm. A total of 1,823,264 students have taken these examinations, with 510,961 boys and 454,743 girls for class 10th and 454,320 boys and 403,240 girls from class 12th. Conducted in a total of 3,855 exam centers, the students can view their results via a mobile application.

89.25% Students Pass West Bengal Higher Secondary Board Exam

On Wednesday, the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) announced the results of the Class 12 board exam for 2023 with 89.25 per cent of candidates qualifying. The pass rate was higher for boys, at 91.86 per cent, while the pass rate for girls was 87.26 per cent.

Out of the total of 8,52,444 candidates, 8,24,891 appeared for the exam. Hooghly district produced the most candidates in the top 10 list with 18 out of 87. The highest pass rate was from East Midnapore district. Subhrangshu Sardar from Ramakrishna Mission, Narendrapur was the top scorer with 99.20 per cent in an interesting combination of subjects comprising English, Bengali, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science.

This year’s major board exam was a testament to the resilience of students, who had to skip their secondary exams two years back due to the COVID-19 lockdown. WBCHSE president Dr Chiranjib Bhattacharjee applauded their determination and hard work that led to this positive outcome.

Delhi Government Takes Action against School Vice Principal for Sexual Harassment Allegations

The Delhi Government has taken action against a vice principal of a government school involved in sexual harassment allegations. After receiving several complaints from female teachers from the school, the Directorate of Education has initiated disciplinary proceedings against the vice principal.

The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) was approached with these complaints, revealing that the vice principal had allegedly sexually and mentally harassed teachers in the school. The complaints were looked into by the school’s Staff Level Grievance Redressal Committee, who found the allegations to be true and recommended his transfer or suspension. Furthermore, a First Information Report under sections 354(A), 354(C), 354(D) and 506 of the Indian Penal Code was filed against the man in 2022.

In response, the DCW issued a summons to the Director of Education for an action report. The Director of Education subsequently declared that the accused had been transferred out of the school, and the matter has been forwarded to the Local Complaint Committee of the District under the Prevention of Sexual Harassment at Workplace Act, 2013.

DCW Chief Swati Maliwal was not satisfied with this outcome, which led to the Education Director taking the decision to commence Disciplinary Proceedings for Major Penalty under Section 14 of the CCS Conduct Rules 1964 against the accused.

Detailing this situation, Maliwal emphasized the importance of holding those responsible for sexual harassment accountable. Stressing the Commission’s zero-tolerance policy against sexual harassment, she declared her support for the women who are fighting for justice.

In order to address such occurrences, measures must be taken to ensure a safe and secure workplace. This includes strict implementation of anti-sexual harassment policies, and also a clear set of protocols showcasing the steps to be taken in such cases. Victims must be heard and protection must be offered to ensure that justice is provided.

DAVV Asks For Revaluation of Answer Books of Contractual Teacher Exam and BEd Exam Candidates

Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV), located in the city of Indore, Madhya Pradesh, announced that answer books of students who failed their BEd 4th semester exam but cleared the contractual teacher exam will be reevaluated. This decision came after the protesting students, led by Youth Congress leader Javed Khan, demanded a final review of the answer sheets and an additional special exam for those who failed the exam even after the reevaluation.

Prof Renu Jain, the Vice-Chancellor of DAVV, accepted the students’ demand and informed them that the university had already requested permission from the Department of Higher Education for conducting the exam. She stated that if the permission is granted, the exam will be conducted for sure.
