An Indore boy has topped the High School Examination conducted by the Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education (MPBSE). Mridul Pal scored an outstanding 494 marks out of 500, with the second rank going to Prachi Garhval who scored 493 marks out of 500 also from Indore.

Both Mridul and Prachi dedicated a lot of hard work to their studies despite the difficulties of the ongoing lockdown. Prachi’s father, Hukumchand Garhwal, is a mechanic. He is proud of his two daughters and a son and is working hard to help them with their education. Prachi plans to become a software engineer, a goal which her father fully supports.

On the other hand, Mridul Pal has gone to his relative’s house in Lucknow to celebrate his success. His father, Harishankar Pal, who works as a pool attendant, is also proud of his son and is happy that he invested his time and energy in education. Mridul’s mother, Urmila Pal, is a home seamstress and is proud of her son for scoring 98.8% marks in 10th standard.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan recently attended a women’s conference in the Dindori district in India and inaugurated various development works. The MPBSE is an autonomous institution founded in 1971. It holds various state board exams for students of class X, XII and Higher Secondary School and runs the departments of Higher Education, Technical Education, and Education Flair Test. It also conducts entrance examinations for professional courses like MBBS and BDS. Moreover, the board is highly recognized for its balanced approach to both theory and practical curriculums and provides a fair platform to assess the students.

In Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, a 15-year-old high school student named Shivraj Singh from Ujjainiya village, located under the Ghattiya police station, tragically ended his life soon after the announcement of the results of the Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education. Shivraj had received a supplementary grade in his social science exam, causing him to become disheartened. The family had left home to attend the Kalash Sthapana programme at a local Krishna temple, Shivraj had locked his room from the inside and had taken the fateful decision to end his life by hanging himself.

Shivraj was an introvert and had sustained an injury to his eye a few days prior to his death. His family members quickly noticed his absence and rushed back to their home, eventually breaking open the door only to find Shivraj hanging inside.

The Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education, which is responsible for the examination of secondary school students in the state, endeavors to provide quality education with great encouragement. Chief Wildlife Warden SK Popli and Prakash Chand Gogineni, the Field Director of Similipal Tiger Reserve (STR), visited the home of Bimal Kumar Jena – a forest guard who was killed by poachers in the Similipal North Division on Monday – to convey their condolences. During their visit, Popli expressed his sadness over the loss of Jena, noting his dedicated service towards the Forest Department.

Popli reported that the Department is working towards increasing personnel and equipping them with better firearms to prevent further poaching incidents from occurring. He also clarified a rumour of poachers originating from states outside of West Bengal, confirming that the five poachers Id’ed by the district police are Mayurbhanj natives. He additionally mentioned that when patrolling, forest staff are not necessary to be armed, as a platoon of armed police reserve has been filled to support protection in STR, in addition to Country-made weapons seized from the poachers.

Popli mentioned the Forest Department’s assurance to fulfill the compensation asked by Jena’s father, Birendranath – which included 1 crore rupees compensation and support for Jena’s six-year-old grandchild’s education and pension. Furthermore, Jena’s wife, Lipina Swain who is also a forest guard has been transferred from Balidiha beat under Pithabata North wildlife range, to an office in Baripada.

The Similipal Tiger Reserve, located in the Mayurbhanj district of Odisha, was declared a Tiger Reserve in 1979. It is one of the most famous wildlife sites in the country encompassing 11 Conservation Reserves, 9 Community Reserves, and one wildlife sanctuary. The main attraction of the national park is the Bengal Tiger, which is believed to be one of the most powerful predators in the world. STR is also home to many endangered species including elephants, gaurs, crocodiles, and pangolins. The park also serves as a sanctuary to more than 300 species of birds and several varieties of snakes. It provides visitors with unique experiences like viewing of rare species, bird watching, trekking, and many other eco-tourism activities. The Reserve is managed by the Odisha Forest Department, which works hard to protect the flora and fauna of the area through various conservation initiatives.

A Philippine lawmaker has recently proposed a bill to prevent schools from giving homework on weekends for elementary and high school students.
