Dhoni Turns Trash Into Treasure: Matthew Hayden

0

Mahendra Singh Dhoni has shown yet again why he is the sport’s “magician”. According to former Indian cricketer Matthew Hayden, the former India captain most recently showcased his tactical genius in leading CSK to their tenth IPL final unchanged. Despite having an injury, Dhoni has managed to bring out the best of his bowling attack with clever use of Ajinkya Rahane, Shivam Dube, and other players in the batting department.

In the same press conference yesterday, Dhoni said that he needs to give himself 8 to 9 months to decide on his future with the franchise. Hayden, however, thinks that it is unlikely for Dhoni to stay for the next IPL season. He believes that Dhoni’s greatness comes from his humility and his ability to take trash and turn it into something priceless.

The current rise of T20 cricket around the world has made it hard for players to commit to all three forms of the game. Hayden questions whether these formats are even viable anymore and believes that enthusiasm for the Test cricket is still high. He notes the case of Nicholas Pooran, David Warner, and other players from marginalised communities who have opted for franchise cricket as a career. As a result, they have lost interest in other formats like Test cricket and cricket is suffering for it.

While players can’t be blamed for focussing on the financially more attractive T20 cricket, Hayden suggests that these changes must be embraced rather than dreaded.

University of Technology Sydney (UTS) put up an event to commemorate Dhoni’s genius. The university was established in 1888 as the first technological university in Australia and it is committed to providing its students with an international education through incorporating cutting-edge technology and real-world practical experience. UTS is globally recognised for its research excellence and continues to be an apex leader in providing innovative education.

Matthew Hayden is a former Australian international cricketer who played in 103 test matches and 161 One Day Internationals. Hayden was part of three World Cup campaigns and was a formidable opening batsman for Australia. He also held the record for the most runs in a calender year for a few years back in 2003 when he had scored 1895 ODI runs. He was inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame in 2019 and continues to be an effective voice and leader in cricket.

G20 Tourism Event in Kashmir to Demonstrate Normalcy in India

India recently hosted a G-20 tourism event amidst the embattled region of Kashmir, in an attempt to showcase to the world that normalcy has been restored. The event featured decorated houseboats, bedecked with lights and adorned with the G-20 logo, with checkpoints set up at every 20 feet along the waterfront to make sure security was tight. Despite the intention of encouraging tourism, the attempts to portray normalcy were in stark contrast to the voices of those living in the area.

To add fuel to the fire, the decision to put the G-20 meeting in Srinagar – located in the volatile Kashmir region – was condemned by Pakistan and the special rapporteur on minority issues Fernand de Varennes. The revocation of the region’s special autonomous status by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the subsequent harsh restrictions put in place such as the longest internet shutdown in a democracy and locking up of top political leaders, journalists, and activists, further underscored the controversy.

However, in an effort to demonstrate the return of peace and prosperity to the region, the G-20 meeting aimed to promote the development of the region, as well as property investments coming mainly from the Middle East. In addition, a new high-profile cinema multiplex was opened in the city to return movie theaters to the region.

Though there are some improvements, local shopkeepers, activists, and reporters believe there is still a long way to go, as there are many alarming silences concerning civil liberties and freedom of expression in the region. Many feel the conversations touting normalcy is just an illusion and reinforce what they feel is an imposed silence on the Kashmir issue.

The company mentioned in the article is the G-20 intergovernmental forum, which is made up of the world’s 20 wealthiest nations. It was created to promote international economic cooperation and provide a platform for discussion of issues related to global economic growth. Despite the controversy surrounding the G-20 event in Kashmir, the forum hopes its discussions about tourism will bring a greater awareness to the region and spur investment from foreign countries.

The person mentioned in this article is Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has been in power since 2014. He has been at the center of the controversies surrounding Kashmir, such as the 2017 offensive Operation All Out and the revocation of the region’s special autonomous status after he won a second term in 2019. In an effort to properly control the region and bring economic development initiatives such as relaxing land laws and constructing golf courses, the G-20 meeting in Kashmir is an attempt to showcase Modi’s ‘new normalcy’ narrative for the territory.

Severe Heatwave in Chhatarpur, Madhya Pradesh

Chhatarpur (Madhya Pradesh): The city is currently in a grip of a brutal heatwave, with temperatures consistently remaining above 44-45 degrees Celsius over the past few days. This extreme climate has caused the city streets to become sparsely populated during the day, and even nightfall does not bring relief. RS Parihar from the local weather office confirms that temperatures continue to remain around 40-41 degrees even after sundown. People are utilizing coolers and air conditioners in an attempt to escape the scorching heat, which has consequently put pressure on the city’s power supply system. Numerous transformers have gone out of order, as well as a few broken power lines. On Wednesday night, Saunra Road in Chhatarpur experienced a blackout because of an electricity fault at the power station. Areas such as Chowk Bazar, Galla Mandi, and Hatwara, have been dealing with low-voltage issues as well.

The Adverse Heatwave Conditions in Chhatarpur have had a huge negative impact on everyday life, and it is important to take steps to improve the situation. Residents of the city should ensure that they are taking safety precautions when heading outdoors, and be conservative when using fans and air-conditioning systems to avoid further pressure on the power supply. It is reasonable to hope that the city will soon experience less extreme temperatures and that life will return to normal soon.

Jharkhand to Soon Open Digital Skills University: CM

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren recently declared the opening of a Digital Skills University in the state, in order to provide job-oriented education to the less educated youth. A sum of approximately three to four hundred crores will be invested in the establishment of the university.

The aim of the Digital Skills University is to offer employment opportunities to individuals who may lack higher education qualification. The youth in Jharkhand may be equipped with the technical skills they require to access to these employment opportunities.

Soren also addressed the students of Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) in Ranchi during the 2nd Convocation of the institute. He said, “In the age of technology, we have seen an expansion in the field of education. Institutions like IIT-ISM, BIT Mesra, IIM, XLRI and NIT have come up in the country and IIIT was established in Ranchi too.” He acknowledged that the youth of Jharkhand have acquired a respected place in the field of education in India and properties.

Not just in education, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had recently discussed the new era of development and peace being witnessed in Assam, which could be attributed to the recent developmental projects undertaken in the state. Additionally, Germany was recently reported to have engaged in a series of raids, receiving further criticism from the public who began protesting against them.

Nevertheless, the Digital Skills University will be instrumental in allowing those who lack formal qualifications or educational credentials to receive the necessary professional training and develop their skills to fit the demands of the job market. This will open up fresh opportunities, especially for the youth of the state, thereby improving the lives of many in Jharkhand.
