Medicover Hospital Doctors Perform Hip Replacement Surgery Using Minimally Invasive Direct Anterior Approach With Short Stem Procedure

0

A team of skilled orthopedic surgeons led by Dr. Deepak Gautam, Director of Orthopedics at Medicover Hospitals in Navi Mumbai, India, recently performed a successful total hip replacement using the minimally invasive direct anterior approach with a short stem. The patient, 56-year-old Mr. Vasudev Patil, suffered from a hip fracture caused by an accident and was in a great deal of pain. Due to the successful surgery, he is now back to leading his regular life.

This new technique involves removing the damaged hip ball and replacing it with a prosthetic component. Unlike the traditional procedure where the surgeon approaches the hip joint from the back or side, this direct anterior approach (DAA) allows the surgeon to access the hip joint from the front with the patient lying in a supine position and a small incision. This method has been proven to be more effective as it does not require any muscles to be cut, resulting in much less postoperative pain and quicker recovery. Furthermore, the risk of dislocation is minimal, unlike the traditional approach, as most of the structures around the hip joint are not disturbed.

Dr Gautam and the team from Medicover Hospitals have undertaken extensive training from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi to provide the highest quality of care. Postoperatively, patients undergoing this hip replacement surgery are not required to follow the normal precautions of avoiding certain tasks and positions, such as sitting on the floor or cross-legged.

The vision of Medicover Hospitals is to create a premier medical facility in Mumbai that is on par with the quality of care offered in the All India Institute of Medical Sciences. The focus of the organization is to enhance the quality of life for patients through the use of cutting-edge technology, best practices, and skilled expertise.

Mr. Vasudev Patil, the patient, expressed his gratitude for the surgeons at Medicover Hospitals for giving him a new life. Prior to the surgery, he was in immense pain and immobile, but after surgery he can now move freely without any fear. He was relieved to hear that he will not have to follow prescribed restrictions post-surgery in order to recover.

Medicover Hospitals offers a comprehensive range of Orthopedic services for patients in the region. Their veteran team of medical professionals, all trained at AIIMS, New Delhi, are committed to providing the highest level of healthcare. Ravi Shankar Prasad Calls for Boycott After Several Chief Ministers Miss NITI Aayog Meeting

Launching a scathing attack on several Chief Ministers for boycotting the eighth Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog, BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad termed the move as “unfortunate”. At the meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Prasad expressed his disapproval over missing chief ministers like Mamata Banerjee of West Bengal, MK Stalin of Tamil Nadu, K Chandrashekar Rao of Telangana, Nitish Kumar of Bihar, Arvind Kejriwal of Delhi and Bhagwant Mann of Punjab.

Commenting on the situation, Prasad said the absence of the CMs would mean that their states would not be able to take advantage of the important decisions taken at the meeting. He highlighted the significance of the NITI Aayog in creating a roadmap for the development plan of the country, and noted that having the Council’s support in implementing those decisions would be integral. The senior BJP leader questioned whether the leaders’ absence would mean that their people would not get the benefits of the decisions taken today.

Ravi Shankar Prasad aimed criticism at the opposition for their apparent protest against Modi. Characterizing it as going “too far”, Prasad reminded that the opposition had not attended important national events like the laying of the foundation stone of the Parliament and the inauguration. He added that it was unfair to criticize the PM’s international popularity.

Prasad then emphasized on the importance of constitutional institutions in the country and pointed out that decisions taken at NITI Aayog meetings would only be beneficial to the states if their representatives were at the table. He highlighted the various initiatives by the Council, such as the urban planning, capacity building, urban employment and technology-pushing, which the Centre was committed to support with a Rs. 10000 crore budget. He concluded by expressing his opinion on the opportunity for the states to benefit from PM Modi’s G-20 presidency.
