More than 15 lakh pilgrims have gone on char dham yatra this year, as per Uttarakhand Director General of Police Ashok Kumar. This year, the total number of pilgrims that has taken the Char Dham Yatra has crossed 15 lakh. The Char Dham Yatra is an annual pilgrimage that involves visiting four holy temples in the Indian states of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh.
To ensure the smooth and safe yatra, Uttarakhand Police personnel have been dedicating to providing assistance to the devotees. The pilgrims have included 3,12,422 from Gangotri, 2,82,857 from Yamunotri, 5,37,065 from Kedarnath, 4,39,782 from Badrinath and 8,551 from Hemkund Sahib.
In order to accommodate the influx of pilgrims, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had allocated a sum of Rs 22.25 crore to build the registration office cum transit camp at Rishikesh. Mr. Dhami also reviewed the arrangements and interacted with the pilgrims from different states in attendance. The yatra was inaugurated by the state Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami himself on the holy occasion of Akshay Tritiya on 22nd April.
To look after the health of the policemen involved in the policing of the yatra, the district in- charges were directed not to impose Chardham duty on the policemen above the age of 55 years.
The Uttarakhand Government is dedicated to providing the necessary facilities to the pilgrims to ensure a successful Chardham Yatra. All the necessary measures are taken by the officials so that the devotees can experience the pilgrimage of the Char Dham safely.
