Meghalaya Board Adopts CBSE Syllabus for Three Subjects in Class 11 and 12

The Meghalaya Board of Secondary Education (MBOSE) has announced that it will introduce the CBSE syllabus for Class 11 and Class 12 students in three subjects. Physical education, sociology, and psychology will now follow the CBSE curriculum, with students also recommended to use CBSE and NCERT textbooks. This move aims to ensure that relevant resources are available to students to align with the new curriculum. Students who have registered for the MBOSE exam in 2024 will have the option to download the CBSE and NCERT textbooks from official websites. The revised syllabus for Class 11 is set to commence in 2023-2024, while the updated syllabus for Class 12 will be introduced in 2024-2025. The MBOSE has recommended specific CBSE and NCERT textbooks for Class 11 and 12 students in these subjects to assist with the change.

National Health Mission (NHM) Madhya Pradesh, Gandhi Medical College Bhopal, and ECHO India have jointly launched a capacity-building program aimed at combating Beta Thalassemia and Hemoglobinopathies in Madhya Pradesh. The program will equip around 50 doctors from various districts in Madhya Pradesh with skills in screening, early diagnosis, treatment, and the overall management of genetic blood disorders. Sickle Cell Anemia and Thalassemia are common in the state, resulting in a decrease in human life due to blood deficiency complications. The program aims to create awareness and improve the care of patients with Beta Thalassemia by utilizing the latest medical and scientific techniques. The first training session will focus on improving the skills of healthcare professionals, empowering them to offer prompt and efficient care to people suffering from Hemoglobinopathies.

Youth arrested for death of teenage girl in Kerala

A young man was arrested in Kerala in connection with the death of a 17-year-old girl. The girl was found hanging in a building owned by the Al-Aman Education and Charitable Trust on May 13th. Following her death, a special police investigation team was formed to investigate the incident. The autopsy report revealed that the girl had been sexually abused around six months prior to her death, leading to the arrest of Hashim Khan, a 20-year-old who is now being held responsible for the young woman’s passing. The local BJP launched a protest in the wake of the girl’s tragic death, while her family suspected foul play. Despite Trust officials ruling out any wrongdoing, a proper investigation was called for by the BJP and its supporting groups.

Gujarat Board Declares 73.27% Pass Percentage for Class 12 Arts and Commerce Results

The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) has released the results for the Class 12 General Stream examinations held between March 14 and March 25, 2023. A total of 4,77,392 students appeared for the exam, with 73.27% passing the exam. This pass percentage is lower than last year’s 86.91%. Among the districts, Dhrangadra recorded the highest pass percentage of 95.85%, while Devgadhbariya witnessed the lowest pass percentage of 36.28%. Kutch district topped the list with 84.59% successful students, while Dahod registered the lowest pass percentage at 54.67%. Philosophy had the lowest pass percentage at 76.69%. Students can check their results on the Gujarat board’s official website, gseb.org, using their six-digit seat number. The e-marksheet can be downloaded, and the hard copy will be provided by the schools at a later date. According to the assessment rules of the board, students must obtain at least Grade D in all subjects to pass the GSEB Class 12 exams.

NIA Conducts Raids in Coastal Karnataka Over PFI Hawala Network

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has conducted raids at 16 different locations in coastal Karnataka simultaneously. The raids were conducted to track down hawala transactions allegedly made by some local suspects from Gulf nations for terrorist and anti-national activities. The NIA crackdown was to break the hawala network of banned organisation, Popular Front of India (PFI), and investigation trail of the Phulwari Sharif terror module case which came to light in Patna, Bihar has reached the coastal Karnataka region. Earlier, NIA had arrested Mohammad Sinon, a Bantwal resident, Sarfaraz Nawaz and Iqbal from Sajipa Mooda, Abdul Rafeeq from Puttur in this connection.

Tragedy in Lucknow as Four People, Including Two Children, Killed in SUV Accident

A family of four, including two young children, were killed after being hit and dragged by a speeding SUV in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh on May 31. The accident occurred near the Gulchain temple in Aliganj when the SUV struck the family’s scooter, trapping all four under its wheels. Eyewitnesses claimed that the SUV continued to drive for around 100 meters, dragging the victims until they eventually fell off. All four were declared dead upon arrival at the King George’s Medical University Trauma Centre. The driver of the SUV is currently at large and under investigation by the police. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his condolences for the tragic loss of life.

Three Arrested for Foiled Narcotics Smuggling Attempt Along LoC in Poonch

The Indian Army has successfully foiled an attempt to smuggle arms and narcotics across the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. Officials said that three people have been arrested and handed over to local authorities. The army reacted after noticing suspicious movement near the border and an exchange of fire ensued, resulting in one of the arrested person and an Indian Army soldier being injured. The persons were said to be attempting to smuggle in an assortment of weapons and narcotics when authorities intercepted them.

According to officials, the trio was set to receive the arms and narcotics from across the border and then smuggle them into India when they were spotted and caught. The seizure includes an AK assault rifle, two pistols, six grenades, an IED inside a pressure cooker, and twenty packets of suspected heroin.
