China’s smartwatch market experienced its lowest level of shipments in 12 quarters, with a decline of 28% YoY and 16% QoQ in Q1 2023. According to Counterpoint Research, the top three brands during this time were Huawei, Apple and BBK (imoo), who together held almost 60% of the smartwatch market in China. The demand for smartwatches remained weak even after the Spring Festival, and the market required more time to recover. However, shipments of high-level operating system (HLOS) smartwatches saw the least YoY drop, with an increased share from 39% to 45% in Q1 2022. Huawei was the most successful brand, with a 27% share, while Apple took the second-largest share, and OPPO was the only brand to see an increase in YoY and QoQ shipments.
