Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit has voiced his support for the Centre’s ordinance against the Delhi government. Speaking to ANI, Dikshit said that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is aware that he could face jail time if he does not gain control of the Vigilance department. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convenor is seeking support from opposition parties against the ordinance and has met with leaders such as Mamata Banerjee, Uddhav Thackeray, Sharad Pawar, Nitish Kumar, and Tejashwi Yadav. The Union government brought the ordinance on May 19 to amend the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi Act, 1991 and bypass the Supreme Court judgement in the Centre vs Delhi case, relating to matters such as transfer posting, vigilance, and other incidental issues.
Indian border security force foils attempted intrusion by Pakistani near J-K international border
The Border Security Force (BSF) in India has neutralized a Pakistani intruder near the India-Pakistan border in Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba area on Thursday. The intruder was advancing towards the border fencing despite warnings from the security personnel, prompting the BSF to take action.
According to the BSF, the troops noticed suspicious movement in the Samba area and challenged the intruder. However, the intruder continued to advance, leading the troops to open fire and neutralize the threat. Further details are being ascertained.

Manipur Chief Minister Urges Return of Police-Seized Arms, Threatens Legal Consequences
Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh has urged the residents of Manipur to surrender weapons which have been snatched from security forces, warning of legal action against anyone found to be in unauthorised and illegal possession of arms and ammunition. Singh also appealed to all concerned in Manipur not to block roads and hinder the free movement of security personnel and relief material. Referring to the obstruction of affected areas, Singh stated that such roadblocks have made it difficult for security and police personnel to respond to attacks by armed groups on time. Union Home Minister Amit Shah has been visiting the state, where he held meetings with various delegations and reviewed security measures.
PM Modi to Address Booth-Level Workers of Jammu and Kashmir on June 23
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the polling booth-level workers of BJP of all Parliamentary and Assembly constituencies of Jammu and Kashmir on June 23. This was revealed by Jammu and Kashmir UT BJP President, Ravinder Raina, during a press briefing held at the party office in Trikuta Nagar, Jammu. The meeting coincides with ‘Balidan Diwas’ – the death anniversary of BJP ideologue Shyama Prasad Mukherjee. Raina also announced the start of a month-long ‘Maha Jan Sampark’ Abhiyaan across J&K, which will run until June 30. The program aims to spread awareness about the welfare and other schemes launched by the BJP government at the center during the last nine years.
73 Complaints for Hearing in Narmadapuram, Madhya Pradesh
Madhya Pradesh’s Narmadapuram had its weekly public meeting on Tuesday, where complaints from 73 individuals were heard by Collector Neeraj Kumar Singh. Upon listening to these concerns, Singh promptly directed officials to resolve them as soon as possible. For example, after hearing of encroachments on a road in the Tugriya area from a farmer, Singh told the Tehsilder of the region to take action. Other complaints included the lack of demarcation of land and delayed payment to farmers for wheat and gram sales. The Chief Executive Officer of the district Panchayat, among other officials, were present to hear these complaints. The public hearing serves as an opportunity for locals to voice their concerns and receive timely and effective solutions.
NCC cadets raise awareness against tobacco through door-to-door campaign on World No Tobacco Day
On World No Tobacco Day, the NCC cadets of Government Madhav Arts and Commercial College in Gyarsi Nagar, Ujjain conducted a door-to-door public awareness campaign related to the prohibition of tobacco. The campaign was carried out under the guidance of Colonel Gyan Prakash Chaudhary, Commanding Officer, 10th Battalion NCC.
The president of the college, Budh Singh Sengar, provided guidance on this year’s theme, ‘We need food, not tobacco’. Principal of the college, Dr JL Barmaiya, administered an oath to students and staff not to consume tobacco products. The event was rounded off under the leadership of IQAC in-charge, Dr Alpana Upadhyay, and Capt Dr Mohan Nimole.
District Health Officer Dr S K Singh motivated all officers and employees not to use or consume tobacco products and spread awareness about the physical and mental side effects of tobacco consumption. They explained the COTPA Act and administered an oath to avoid tobacco products.
The main purpose of celebrating World No Tobacco Day is to educate people about the harmful effects of tobacco on the body such as lung cancer, respiratory system disease, smoking during pregnancy, the effects of smokeless tobacco on the baby, asthma, pneumonia, and many more.
The cadets did a commendable job by conducting a door-to-door awareness campaign, which is an effective way to reach out to people and spread the message. It is important for more institutions and organizations to come forward and conduct similar campaigns to tackle the tobacco epidemic and create a healthier society.
City Master Plan Passed to Favor Minister and Builders, Congress Accuses
The Congress party in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, has accused CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Mohan Yadav, local Minister of Higher Education, of approving the city’s Master Plan to protect their commercial interests and those of local builders. According to the Congress party, the Ujjain Master Plan has only been approved due to the influence of those with vested interests and if the government does not address objections, it will launch a significant protest. Sajjan Singh Verma, former Minister, also suggested that the approval of the Plan will result in a loss of Rs 500 crore to the state exchequer, while land mafias may benefit from at least Rs 1500 crore. In response, the Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad (ABAP) reinforced its opposition to any tampering with the Simhastha Fair area.
Monthly Allowance Provided for 3,000 Specially-Abled Students in Noida
The state government of Uttar Pradesh in India will provide a monthly allowance to nearly 2,898 children with special needs (CWSN) in Noida. The students will receive an escort allowance of Rs 6,000 for 10 months starting in July, while 150 girls with disabilities will receive a Rs 2,000 stipend for the same period. Only verified CWSN students with medical certificates from recognised institutes or medical representatives will receive the stipends. The escort allowance was introduced in 2016 under the Sarva Siksha Aviyan Scheme to assist students suffering from dyslexia, spasticity, or autism, or who are visually or physically challenged. Parents or guardians receive the payments directly to their bank accounts. The verification of the documents is currently under process, and the funds have not been approved yet.
AU Launches 5-Year Integrated PG Courses in Eight Streams in Allahabad
Allahabad University (AU) is set to launch five-year integrated postgraduate courses in eight streams based on the New Education Policy (NEP)-2020 starting from the 2023-24 academic session, according to reports. The decision was made in a recent meeting chaired by VC Prof Sangita Srivastava and attended by members of the NEP implementation committee and heads of departments. The courses will have 40 seats each and admission will be through the common university entrance test. Students will have the option to pursue electives in interdisciplinary fields and proficiency courses in different languages and subjects. The Centre of Behavioural and Cognitive Sciences (CBCS) of AU will conduct their integrated course for MSc and PhD degrees with 25 available seats. University wrestler Ishika Kumar clinches gold at Khelo India Games 2022
Ishika Kumar, a wrestler from Punjab University, won a gold medal in the 55 kg weight category of the Khelo India University Games, held in Uttar Pradesh. With a family background in wrestling, Ishika expressed that sports is in her blood. She hails from the Sonipat district in Haryana but now resides in Delhi and practices at the Chhatrasal Stadium, known as the nursery of wrestling. Ishika is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts (BA) and aims to participate in the Olympics representing the country. She practices for eight hours daily and has earlier won medals at the Khelo India School Games as well as the Cadet and Junior National Championships. Sandeep Kumar, Ishika’s father, is a wrestling enthusiast and encouraged Ishika to pursue the sport in which her grandfather and great-grandfather were also wrestlers. Sandeep appreciated the arrangements made for female athletes during the Khelo India University Games and believes that such events are crucial for the future of aspiring athletes in India.
