Panel Led by Former HC Judge to Investigate Manipur Violence, Amit Shah Vows Strict Action Against Violations of Law.

The Central government has formed a panel, headed by a retired judge, to investigate violence in Manipur, which has resulted in loss of life and property. Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated that the investigative committee would be supported by a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) team. Furthermore, Shah said that the governor of Manipur would lead a peace committee involving civil society members. Several agencies are working in Manipur to investigate violent incidents. High-level CBI probe in six incidents of violence that hint at a conspiracy. We will make sure that the investigation is fair, Shah said. Students in Manipur will receive a rehabilitation package and special provisions to ensure they do not fall behind in their studies. The Central Government and the Manipur government will award INR 10 lakhs to the next of kin of those who lost their lives, as compensation. Online education and examinations will continue as per plan, according to Shah.

Mahatma Gandhi Statue Unveiled in Odisha Village

A statue of Mahatma Gandhi was revealed in Dhumat village in Kendrapara district, Odisha, marking the 89th anniversary of Gandhi’s visit to the village on May 30, 1934, and to commemorate his role in India’s freedom struggle. Kendrapara MLA and former minister Sashibhusan Behera revealed the statue as part of a meeting which was organized by the district freedom fighters’ Association and the district administration. The gram panchayat of Indupur built the fibre statue to remind locals of the significance of Gandhi’s 1934 padayatra and his stay in Dhumat. During his visit, villagers carried water from the nearby river in buckets for Gandhi to take a bath on a stone in Dhumat. A pedestal and half-bust statues of Gandhi and Utkalmani Gopabandhu Das were also built near the stone, which is still preserved today. In response to a call given by Gandhi to join the freedom struggle, villagers of Dhumat, Indupur, and surrounding areas took a plunge into the movement. A thatched Ashram was built in 1938 in memory of Gandhi, but it was destroyed during a super cyclone in October 1999.

Wrestlers Protest: Delhi Borders on High Alert Ahead of SKM Demonstrations

Security has been tightened at Delhi’s border points ahead of nationwide demonstrations by the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) in support of wrestlers protesting against Wrestling Federation of India Chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. The SKM had called for these protests in response to Singh being accused of sexually harassing female wrestlers, including a minor. Delhi Police officials have stated that they are taking precautionary measures to prevent any untoward incidents from occurring. The SKM has coordinated with various groups, including trade unions, women, youth, students, intellectuals and other sections of society to hold these demonstrations. They have demanded that Singh be arrested, who is also a BJP MP. The wrestlers had been protesting at Jantar Mantar since April 23 and were removed after trying to march to the newly inaugurated Parliament building. They were detained and later released by police officials.

IAF Rafale Jets Conduct Exercises in Indian Ocean Region

The Indian Air Force (IAF) has conducted an exercise in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR) involving four Rafale fighter jets, in which they simulated outmaneuvering hostile warplanes to launch weapons at a target. The six-hour-long mission saw the Rafales undergo mid-air refueling and navigate through a large force engagement en route to their Weapon Release Point. India’s strategic vision for the IOR, known as ‘SAGAR’, meaning ocean, aims to promote Security and Growth for all in the region. The Rafale’s advanced capabilities have helped India regain its supremacy over the skies, with long-range air-to-ground missiles and advanced radar and electronic warfare capabilities. The French firm, Dassault Aviation, is also maintaining the aircraft, whose serviceability is over 75 percent.

New daily flight services launched in Assam to improve connectivity between Guwahati and Silchar

FlyBig, in partnership with the Assam Tourism Development Corporation Ltd, has launched daily flight services between Guwahati and Silchar in Assam, India. The new flights will operate outside of the UDAN scheme and will improve tourism by boosting intra-state connectivity. Weekly operating schedules will be mutually decided by both parties, with flights leaving at 7.30am to Silchar from Guwahati and returning at 8.30am daily. FlyBig previously launched a flight service between Guwahati and Dibrugarh. The Assam government has pledged to provide viability gap funding to FlyBig, with ticket prices capped at INR4,000 ($55).

Zero Payment for First 100 Units of Electricity in Rajasthan

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has announced that power subscribers in the state will be given 100 units of free electricity per month. The scheme applies to all domestic or commercial users and will be accompanied by a waiver of permanent fees, fuel surcharges and other charges for anyone using up to 200 units of electricity. Those consuming less than 100 units per month will not receive a bill for their power at all. The move comes ahead of this year’s Assembly election and is seen as being part of Congress’ strategy to focus on pro-people policies and freebies.

Small and medium businesses (SMBs) and regulated entities such as banks in India are adopting cloud-based technologies and securities faster than expected to swiftly detect cyber threats, says Trend Micro India, a subsidiary of the Japanese cybersecurity giant. The company’s technical director, Sharda Tickoo, said Trend Micro is betting on purpose-built solutions around security operations centres, cloud security and government projects, adopting an extended detection and response (XDR) platform. Trend Micro’s cybersecurity platform protects both organizations and individuals across clouds, networks, data centres, devices, and endpoints. The company is offering its solutions to over 95% of the state data centres, 90% of the government-run smart city projects and eight out of 10 large banks in India. Within two to three years, India is expected to become one of Trend Micro’s top three global markets.

Bhadra Accuses Partha Chatterjee of Being Bengal School Job Scam Kingpin

Sujay Krishna Bhadra, who was arrested in connection with the multi-crore school recruitment scam in West Bengal, is reportedly trying to project former state education minister and Trinamool Congress secretary general Partha Chatterjee as the main and only kingpin in the alleged scam during his interrogation by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials. ED sources suspect that Bhadra is trying to divert attention from bigger secrets and misleading investigators during the course of investigation. Bhadra even tried to mislead investigators about his links with Trinamool Congress legislator and former president of West Bengal Board of Primary Education (WBBPE) Manik Bhattacharya, who is also in judicial custody on charges of his alleged links with the school recruitment case. The ED has already recovered deleted electronic data related to the case from Bhadra and is expected to uncover more information over the next two weeks while Bhadra is in ED custody.

History TV18 to Broadcast ‘Mann Ki Baat-Bharat Ki Baat’ on June 2

History TV18 is set to premiere a new documentary titled ‘Mann Ki Baat-Bharat Ki Baat’ on June 2. The documentary focuses on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s monthly radio programme, ‘Mann Ki Baat’, which has become a platform for two-way communication between the Prime Minister and Indian citizens, leading to positive change across the country. Narrated by Manoj Muntashir, the film features interviews with prominent figures such as Sudha Murty, Virender Sehwag, Prasoon Joshi, Sadhguru and Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.
