Title: Buddhist Monks Laud PM Modi’s Call for World Peace and Thank Him for Development of Buddhist Sites
Buddhist monks in Ladakh expressed their gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his call for global peace and his efforts in developing Buddhist places in India. The monks lauded these initiatives at the conclusion of a three-day World Peace Conference and Peace Walk held in Ladakh, which aimed to spread the message of unity and harmony.
During the event, a 10-point Ladakh peace declaration was signed, emphasizing the importance of peace and harmony amidst the current challenges of wars, terrorism, and various forms of violence in the world. The conference brought together Buddhist monks, devotees, and scholars from different countries to discuss how Buddhist philosophy and ideology can help address global challenges.
Organized by the Mahabodhi International Meditation Center (MIMC) in Ladakh, the program saw the participation of Buddhist monks and devotees from countries including Thailand, Nepal, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, and the United States. Approximately 2500 leaders representing different religions, eminent scholars, and members of the Indian Minorities Foundation also took part.
As a symbol of their commitment to peace, a large congregation of Buddhist monks and other participants embarked on a peace walk from NDS stadium to Shanti Stupa in Leh, Ladakh. The peaceful procession carried prayers and peace messages, promoting global peace and harmony.
Founder and President of MIMC, Bhikkhu Sanghasena, expressed his admiration for Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, stating that he is a spiritual leader who embodies values like yoga, meditation, and Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam. Sanghasena emphasized that India is fortunate to have such a leader who combines spiritual values with the pursuit of national development.
Dr. Pornchai Palawadhammo, President of the World Alliance of Buddhists, acknowledged India’s significance as the birthplace of Buddhism and highlighted the compatibility between the teachings of Buddha and Prime Minister Modi’s practices. He emphasized the potential for collaboration between India and Thailand in promoting peace globally.
Local students participating in the Peace Walk also commended the development efforts in Ladakh under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, particularly in the field of education. The establishment of a Central University, a college, and several schools has resulted in significant advancements in education in the region.
The Peace Walk concluded with prayers for world peace at Shanti Stupa, marking the end of the Padh Yatra, a 32-day journey undertaken by 150 Buddhist monks and laypersons from Thailand in the pursuit of global peace.
The global community looks to India and Prime Minister Modi to lead the world with ancient wisdom, including the values of Mahakaruna, Ahimsa, Yoga, Meditation, and Maitri. Bhikkhu Sanghasena emphasized that the world needs leaders like Prime Minister Modi to bring about peace, harmony, and friendship worldwide.
India’s commitment to peace, harmony, and the development of Buddhist sites showcased during the Peace Walk has positioned Prime Minister Modi as a global peacemaker. With India and its spiritual leader at the forefront, there is hope for a more peaceful and harmonious world.
