The Kadamba Transport Corporation (KTC) has taken charge of taxis for government departments in Goa. The KTC has written to the state government, asking them to issue a circular to all departments to borrow taxis from them. The taxis were being borrowed from the Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) until now.
For any requirement, the department will have to seek approval from the government, which will then forward it to the KTC. The KTC will then send the vehicle along with a driver, and the department will need to pay the driver every month on a kilometer basis. KTC managing director Derek Pereira Neto invited applications from taxi operators for hiring taxis on a monthly basis for a five-year period. The vehicles to be hired are AC sedans, hatchbacks, MUVs, SUVs, luxury cars, and non-AC vehicles.
The KTC is also set to take charge of private buses in a pilot project. The state government has invited applications from private bus owners to empanel their private stage carriage buses to operate under the Maji Bus Scheme. The conductor will be provided by KTC, and they will pay them Rs 36 per kilometer. The KTC will analyze revenue from the project for six months and modify it accordingly. After this, they will attempt full-fledged operations throughout Goa.
