After the delay caused by Cyclone Biparjoy, the monsoon has finally arrived in Kerala, with parts of the state experiencing mild showers. Kochi witnessed light showers on Friday, while Thiruvananthapuram was partly cloudy on Thursday. According to ANI, the southwest monsoon set in over Kerala on June 8th. The India Meteorological Department reported that the very severe cyclonic storm Biparjoy lay centered over eastcentral Arabian Sea and would gradually intensify during the next 48 hours. Fishermen are currently remaining ashore due to the monsoon and the trawling ban in Kerala beginning on June 9th. The ban leaves fishermen with no choice but to stay ashore.
