In a heartfelt tribute to basketball legend Kobe Bryant, De’Andre Davis, a devoted Lakers fan, has transformed his 2020 Dodge Charger R/T Scat Pack into a roaring symbol of Lakers pride. Davis, like countless fans around the world, was devastated by the untimely passing of Bryant in January 2020. Determined to honor the late star’s legacy, Davis initially modified his Charger to display his admiration for Bryant. But after the tragedy, he took it a step further with jaw-dropping modifications that are impossible to ignore.
The customizations on the Charger R/T Scat Pack go far beyond just visual enhancements. Davis decided to remove the mid-mufflers to create an exhaust note that matches the car’s stunning appearance. Additionally, he added a custom powder-coated Bwoody cold air intake and performed an engine tuning procedure to increase the output beyond the standard 485 horsepower.
The transformation of the Charger took place in three stages, with the final stage completed in 2022. The result is a striking light blue and purple color scheme with a lightning pattern, adorned with Kobe’s iconic Mamba logo on the front doors and his jersey numbers on the rear doors. Bryant’s autograph is prominently displayed on the rear quarter panels.
The trunk lid proudly exhibits one of Bryant’s famous quotes, Once you know what failure feels like, determination chases success, accompanied by a picture of his Lakers jerseys. Additional modifications include an aftermarket rear diffuser, a rear window spoiler, blacked-out taillights, light blue-painted calipers, and custom headlights, creating a cohesive and visually stunning tribute to Bryant.
Not a single detail has been overlooked in paying homage to the basketball legend. The Charger’s less visible components such as the strut tower caps, fuse box cover, coolant tank cover, and windshield washer fluid tank cover have all been meticulously finished in purple and yellow. The Mamba logo and badges also find their place in the underhood area, ensuring a complete and cohesive tribute.
Continuing inside the cabin, the homage to Bryant extends with a purple and blue carbon fiber steering wheel, while the instrument cluster and infotainment screen are finished in the Lakers’ colors. The same blue and purple marble/lightning design carries through to the center console and armrest. Kobe’s jersey numbers are embroidered on each front seat headrest, and the floor mats feature a similar pattern. In the trunk, a mural depicting Kobe Bryant standing before the gates of Heaven serves as a poignant final touch.
