World Cup-winner Steven Kitshoff is gearing up for his first home game for Ulster in Europe, and it’s set to be an exciting clash as he faces off against his international captain and colleague Siya Kolisi. Kitshoff, who recently lifted the prestigious World Cup trophy with the Springboks, is looking forward to going head-to-head with Kolisi as Ulster aims to bounce back from their opening day defeat last week.

Ulster’s European campaign got off to a tough start with a 37-14 loss to Bath, but they’re determined to turn things around. However, their task won’t be easy as they face formidable challengers in French powerhouse Racing 92. Stuart Lancaster’s side is still reeling from a thrilling 31-28 defeat at the hands of Harlequins and will be eager to reclaim victory. Racing 92 also boasts the talent of South Africa’s Trevor Nyakane in their ranks.

Ulster, led by Iain Henderson, has made four changes to their lineup. Rob Herring, Mike Lowry, John Cooney, and Matty Rea have all been recalled to strengthen the team. Henderson will be joined by veteran Alan O’Connor in the second row, while Kitshoff will line up in the front row alongside Tom O’Toole and Herring.

The back-row consists of Dave Ewers at blindside flanker, Nick Timoney in the seven jersey, and Rea at eight. The experienced duo of Billy Burns and John Cooney will form the half-back partnership, providing tactical direction for the team. Rob Baloucoune and Jacob Stockdale will continue their presence on the wings, while Stuart McCloskey and James Hume will hold fort at the center. Returning from an injury, Lowry will start at full-back.

Kitshoff expressed his excitement about facing Kolisi, saying, I’m quite excited to see Siya. It looks like he’s settling in very well in Paris, so I’m very happy for him. He’s been an exceptional leader for the Boks for the last four or five years. What he accomplished with his ACL tear and then being back within four months and leading the team the way he did was exceptional. I’m extremely proud of the person he’s become, and I’m looking forward to bashing him a bit this weekend!

Racing 92 will be relying on the standout performance of scrum-half Nolann le Garrec, who was their star player against Harlequins, scoring two tries and converting all four of the team’s tries.

Both teams have named strong lineups for the showdown, and fans are eagerly anticipating a thrilling encounter between two formidable sides. Ulster will be hoping to secure their first win of the European campaign, while Racing 92 aim to bounce back and prove their mettle.

With Kitshoff and Kolisi on opposing sides, there is an added layer of excitement and anticipation to this clash. It’s not every day that teammates and national heroes face off against each other, but for these two fierce competitors, it’s all part of the game.

The stage is set, and all eyes will be on Kitshoff and Kolisi as they lead their respective teams into battle. Rugby fans are in for a treat as these two giants of the game go head-to-head in what promises to be a thrilling encounter of skill, determination, and pride.

Ulster’s clash with Racing 92 kicks off today, and rugby enthusiasts will be eagerly following the action, witnessing the clash between Kitshoff and Kolisi, two extraordinary players and leaders of the game.
