Union Minister of Tourism and Culture G Kishan Reddy has heavily criticised Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) for skipping the NITI Aayog meeting. Reddy spoke to reporters at the BJP state headquarters on Saturday and stated that the state had incurred a considerable loss due to KCR’s absence from the meeting.
Reddy noted that the issue of central aid provided to Telangana must be considered and challenged KCR to engage in discussion regarding it. He also expressed displeasure with the Telangana government for having allegedly transformed into a real estate company and called out the government for accumulating excessive debt. Reddy pointed out the delay in the disbursement of funds under the Kalyana Lakshmi scheme and emphasised on the importance of avoiding further debt.
The Union Minister also spoke out against the state government for cancelling GO 111 and its impact on Hyderabad. He highlighted how 10 acres had been allocated for Congress party offices while the poor were denied even 3 acres. Furthermore, Reddy praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his efforts in unifying the states.
NITI Aayog is an initiative of the Government of India aimed at promoting cooperative federalism by fostering the involvement of state governments in the economic policy-making process. The Aayog seeks to involve all the state and union territories of India through the ‘Council of Ministers’, which is chaired by the Prime Minister, and provides a platform to share best practices between different state Governments.
KCR, also known as Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao, is an Indian politician from Telangana and is the current Chief Minister of Telangana. He also serves as the President of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi and is credited as the founder of the state of Telangana, following the Telangana Movement for liberation from the Government of Andhra Pradesh.
