Kioxia Corporation has unveiled its latest innovation for automotive applications with the introduction of Universal Flash Storage (UFS) Ver. 4.0 flash memory devices. These compact yet high-performing devices are specifically designed for next-generation automotive systems, including telematics, infotainment systems, and ADAS.

The upgraded UFS 4.0 devices from Kioxia offer remarkable improvements in transfer speeds, with a significant increase of approximately 100% for sequential read speed and around 40% for sequential write speed. This enhanced performance allows for faster system startup times, capitalizing on the connectivity benefits of 5G technology. As a result, users can expect an optimized and seamless experience.

Furthermore, the new UFS Ver. 4.0 devices are engineered to enable higher data transfer rates and function reliably in challenging automotive environments. This means that even under adverse driving conditions, car drivers can enjoy smooth and responsive entertainment systems and other features without any compromise.

Kioxia, renowned as the pioneer in UFS technology, continues to push the boundaries of innovation. The company’s latest UFS Ver. 4.0 devices incorporate its cutting-edge BiCS FLASH™ 3D flash memory and a controller, all within a JEDEC-standard package. Additionally, UFS 4.0 integrates MIPI M-PHY 5.0 and UniPro 2.0, supporting theoretical interface speeds of up to 23.2 gigabits per second (Gbp/s) per lane or 46.4 Gbp/s per device. Notably, UFS 4.0 remains backward compatible with UFS 3.1.

The introduction of High Speed Link Startup Sequence (HS-LSS) features in the new Kioxia devices further enhances their performance. This allows for an accelerated Link Startup, reducing the time required by approximately 70% compared to conventional methods. With these advancements, the demands of demanding automotive applications can be effectively addressed.

The new UFS Ver. 4.0 devices by Kioxia are available in capacities of 128, 256, and 512 gigabytes (GB). They are designed to operate within a wide temperature range and comply with AEC-Q100 Grade2 requirements. These devices also boast enhanced reliability capabilities to meet the complex demands of automotive applications, ensuring a seamless and secure experience for users.

Kioxia’s latest unveiling brings forth a remarkable breakthrough in flash memory technology tailored for automotive applications. With faster transfer speeds, robust performance in adverse conditions, and support for advanced features, these UFS Ver. 4.0 devices are set to revolutionize the automotive industry. Stay tuned for the latest updates and developments as Kioxia continues to drive innovation in the field of flash memory technology.
