Kilkenny Man Donates Three-Year-Grown Locks for Children’s Charity

David Hughes, a resident of Kilkenny, has generously decided to part ways with his beloved long hair by donating it to a children’s charity. After growing his luscious mane for over three years, David made the selfless decision to give back to those in need.

The Locks of Love for LauraLynn – hair donation fundraiser has already raised an impressive sum of over €1,500. This initiative aims to support children with life-limiting conditions at LauraLynn, Ireland’s only children’s hospice. By contributing to this noble cause, David hopes to bring some joy and comfort to these children and their families.

David’s journey of growing his hair began during the first lockdown in 2020 as a casual experiment. Over time, his hair grew longer and developed a reddish hue, resulting in an impressive and unique appearance. But now, after three and a half years of nurturing and caring for his glorious locks, David believes it’s time for a change.
Expressing his motivation for this charitable act, David said, It started as an, ‘Ah sure I’ll just let it grow for a bit’. Then it just got longer and gingerer! He believes that his hair can serve a greater purpose by bringing happiness to a child in need.

Through his donation, David’s locks will be utilized by The Little Princess Trust to create real hair wigs for children and adults who have lost their own hair due to cancer treatment or other medical conditions. The Little Princess Trust has been providing support and care to those affected by hair loss, ensuring they can maintain their dignity and confidence throughout their difficult journey.

David’s act of kindness not only aids children with life-limiting conditions but also gives hope to those battling cancer or other illnesses. By donating his cherished locks, he is providing tangible support to individuals who need it the most.

The generosity shown by David in cutting off his hair is a reminder that small acts of kindness can make a big difference in the lives of others. His selflessness is an inspiration to us all, motivating us to consider how we can contribute to the well-being of those in need. Together, we can create a more compassionate and caring world.
