Kia is set to unveil a new lineup of electric SUVs and sedans, including the EV6, EV3, EV4, and EV5 models. According to a report from Automotive News, the EV6 will be joined by the EV3 and EV4 SUVs, along with an EV5 sedan. The EV4 is expected to launch in late 2024, followed by the EV3 in mid-2026.

These vehicles are likely to be subcompact crossovers, similar in size to Kia’s existing Stonic or Seltos models. While at least one of these models will be offered in the North American market, it is speculated that one could be primarily developed for the European market.

In addition, Kia plans to launch an EV5 sedan in mid-2025, which could potentially replace the current K5 sedan. The declining sales of sedans globally may lead to Kia phasing out the K5 in favor of the EV5. The EV5 is expected to be based on the Hyundai Ioniq 6 and will share the dedicated E-GMP electric vehicle platform.

Last year, Kia teased a range of electric vehicles that would be launched by 2027, including a Sportage-sized crossover, a sedan, a compact coupe, and a city-sized hatchback. It is speculated that the EV3, EV4, and EV5 could be among these models, although the teasers were too vague to confirm their exact shapes and sizes.

Kia has committed to introducing at least two EVs per year starting in 2023, each with a high-performance GT variant. The company plans to launch a total of 14 EVs by 2027. The flagship electric Kia will be the EV9, previewed in concept form last year, with a confirmed launch in Europe and the UK in 2023.

Kia Australia has also expressed its interest in bringing as many electric models as possible to its shores. The upcoming EV9 will be the largest of the E-GMP-based Kias, measuring 2055mm wide, 1790mm tall, and 4930mm long, with a 3100mm wheelbase. It will be available in right-hand drive, unlike Kia’s current flagship SUVs.

In terms of charging capabilities, the Concept EV9 can be fast-charged at speeds of up to 350kW, allowing it to reach 10 to 80 percent charge in 20 to 30 minutes. Although specific details about the powertrain have not been released, it is estimated that the EV9 will offer a range of up to 483km, similar to the Hyundai Seven.

Kia has also announced plans to launch two electric pickup trucks by 2027, one of which will be a dedicated electric model based on the E-GMP architecture. The E-GMP platform supports large batteries for extended range and fast charging capabilities.

Overall, Kia aims to expand its electric vehicle lineup and gain a strong foothold in the EV market. With the introduction of the EV6, EV3, EV4, and EV5, along with the flagship EV9, Kia is positioning itself as a major player in the transition to electric mobility.
