Kia reveals updated Seltos, targets 10% market share in PV segment

Kia India has unveiled the updated version of its popular mid-sized sports utility vehicle (SUV), the Seltos, as it aims to capture a 10% market share in the domestic passenger vehicle segment. Currently, Kia India holds a market share of around 7%, but with the launch of the new Seltos and an expanded sales network, the automaker plans to increase its market presence significantly.

The Seltos has been a major contributor to Kia India’s overall sales, accounting for 55% of the company’s total sales. It is also one of the flagship models for Kia globally, with one in every ten Kia cars sold worldwide being a Seltos.

The updated Seltos boasts several enhancements, including all-new interiors and advanced safety features such as level 2 advanced driver assistance systems. The model is available with both petrol and diesel powertrains, equipped with manual and automatic transmissions. With its refreshed look, powerful engine, and a wide range of smart features, Kia expects the new Seltos to be the preferred choice for customers seeking premium SUVs.

Kia India’s Managing Director and CEO, Tae-Jin Park, expressed confidence in the new Seltos’ ability to build on the brand’s strong legacy and lead the premium SUV market. Park emphasized the growth potential in the mid-SUV segment and expects the new Seltos to contribute significantly to this expansion.

To support its market ambitions, Kia India plans to double its sales network, increasing the number of outlets from over 300 to 600 plus. The company believes that the combination of a powerful product like the Seltos and an expanded sales network will play a crucial role in achieving its goal of a 10% market share in the near future.

Bookings for the new Seltos will open on July 14, with sales expected to commence on July 25. The model will be available in 18 trims, catering to a wide range of customer preferences.

As Kia India aims to establish a stronger foothold in the domestic passenger vehicle segment, the launch of the updated Seltos marks a strategic move to capture a larger market share. With its premium features, safety enhancements, and strong brand recognition, the new Seltos is poised to attract new-age customers and contribute significantly to Kia India’s growth trajectory.
