Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government Assures Full Support to Election Commission for Transparent Elections
The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has pledged its complete support to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to ensure the smooth conduct of transparent and fair elections. In a meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Nadeem Aslam Chaudhary and Inspector General Police Akhtar Hayat Gandapur, the provincial government expressed its commitment to collaborating with the ECP in preparing for the upcoming general election.
During the meeting, Additional Chief Secretary Home and Tribal Affairs, Abid Majeed, provided an overview of the election preparations. Chief Secretary Nadeem Aslam Chaudhary emphasized the need for close coordination between commissioners, deputy commissioners, and district election commissioners in their respective areas. He underscored the provincial government’s dedication to supporting the ECP and urged all relevant authorities to expedite preparations in accordance with the commission’s guidelines.
Promoting transparency and a conducive electoral environment was highlighted as a crucial objective of the caretaker government. Chief Secretary Chaudhary instructed the authorities to ensure the provision of necessary facilities at polling stations, especially those located within educational institutions, to facilitate a smooth voting process.
In an effort to maintain peace and order during the election period, the meeting participants agreed that political parties would require a no-objection certificate (NOC) from deputy commissioners to hold public meetings. This measure aims at ensuring all gatherings are conducted responsibly and without any disruption.
As for the upcoming general election in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, it is projected to cover 55 National Assembly and 145 provincial assembly seats, with a staggering total of 21,621,211 registered voters in the province. This sizable electorate emphasizes the importance of meticulous planning and execution by the election authorities.
The commitment of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to supporting the ECP reflects a significant stride towards fostering a fair and transparent electoral process.
