A Keralite nurse working in Abu Dhabi has become the latest winner of the Big Ticket draw, pocketing a whopping sum of 20 million UAE dirhams that’s around Rs 45 crore. Lovelmol Achama scooped the draw held last Saturday, having lived in Abu Dhabi for the past 21 years with her family.
Discussing the win, Achama said her husband used to purchase Big Tickets from Abu Dhabi International Airport every month, and she would now share the prize money with her family, while also allocating portions to charity and the education of her children.
Alongside Achama, four other expat Keralites working in Abu Dhabi won other draws held on the same day, reflecting the significant presence of the community in the UAE capital. Abu Dhabi has been home to a sizable Keralite population for over 50 years, and the win is sure to add to the communities long-standing economic influence in the region.
Abu Dhabi’s Big Ticket draws are regarded as some of the biggest lotteries around, drawing thousands of entrants from across the globe. With the latest winner hailing from Kerala, it is clear the emirate’s lottery continues to appeal to a diverse range of international players.
