Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has launched the K-FON project, which aims to provide internet access to every household in the state. Kerala’s dream has now become a reality. We will be providing internet for all with this project launch, Vijayan said. The K-FON project is a public-sector initiative that will use a built-in IT infrastructure to set up 40 lakh internet connections across the state. Initially, the project will provide internet access to 100 houses in each legislative assembly constituency. Consumers can access internet services with a speed starting at 20 Mbps, and higher speeds will be available based on individual requirements. The project is estimated to provide 2,50,000 commercial connections in the first year of completion by August 2023, which could facilitate its profitability. At present, K-FON has more than 1,000 household subscribers, and 26,492 government offices have successfully installed it, of which 17,354 have live internet access. The project will ensure that every government office has internet connectivity by the end of June, as per a provided list.
