A Kentucky woman has undergone the amputation of all four limbs following complications from a routine kidney stone surgery. Cindy Mullins, 41, developed a severe infection that led to sepsis, forcing doctors to take drastic measures in order to save her life. Following the surgery, Mullins woke up to find both her legs had been amputated, and later underwent a separate surgery to remove her arms. Despite the challenges she now faces, Mullins remains grateful to be alive and able to spend time with her family. A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to support her with expenses related to prosthetics, rehabilitation, and physical therapy. So far, the campaign has raised nearly $200,000 out of its $250,000 goal. Mullins hopes that her experience will serve as a reminder for people to slow down and appreciate the things and people around them. Sepsis is a condition in which the body responds inadequately to an infection, potentially causing damage to various organs.
