Keke Palmer, the renowned American actress and singer, has been granted temporary sole custody in an ongoing domestic abuse case against her ex-partner, Darius Jackson. The decision comes as the fallout from Palmer’s accusations continues to unfold. According to reports from PEOPLE, Palmer had initially wanted an amicable split and custody arrangement. She had given Jackson numerous chances to make amends and prioritize their safety and the well-being of their eight-month-old son, Leo.

However, Palmer ultimately had to prioritize her own safety and that of her child, leading her to seek sole custody. Reports state that Palmer has filed for permanent full custody of Leo, and she has agreed to cover reasonable expenses related to her pregnancy and birth. However, she expects both parties to take care of their own attorneys’ fees. A hearing is scheduled for December 5 to further address the custody matter.

Palmer’s filing also included a request for a restraining order against Jackson, citing physical and emotional abuse. The court documents detail instances of physical violence, including the destruction of personal property and efforts to prevent Palmer from leaving by tossing her car keys. Shockingly, the documents also claim that Jackson hit Palmer in front of their son and made threats of suicide if she were to leave him. The allegations additionally include harassment and other forms of physical and emotional abuse.

The couple officially ended their relationship last month, but Palmer has provided security footage from as recent as November 5, showing Jackson trespassing at her home. According to Palmer, the situation escalated when Jackson threatened her and physically assaulted her, leaving her with no choice but to defend herself by calling the police.

The actress alleges the attacks began early in their relationship and intensified over time, leading to her decision to leave in October. In a statement, Palmer expressed that it was their son, Leo, who ultimately provided her with the strength to end the relationship definitively and seek safety from the abuse.

She emphasized her commitment to creating a safe environment for her child, free from violence. As these developments unfold, Jackson took to social media to share an image of himself with their son, expressing his love for Leo and signaling his desire to see him soon. The case is generating significant attention in both the media and public eye, shedding light on the issue of domestic abuse and stirring conversations about the importance of providing a safe and nurturing environment for children.
