Kashmir Offers Prayers for Relief from Heavy Rainfall

As unseasonal rains coupled with hailstorm and flash-floods continue to devastate agriculture and horticulture crops in the Valley, people from different walks of life flocked to a popular shrine in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district and offered special prayers to seek almighty’s mercy for improvement in weather. The devout from many villages of Bijbehara, including Mattan, Nanil, Kanelwan, Posh Kriri, Khiram, and Akura made their way to Asar Shareef Khiram to seek Allah’s pardon amid the moist eyes. The special prayers were held after Zuhr prayers in the revered shrine with people praying for the cease of rain and forgiveness from the Almighty, as the crops worth lakhs have been destroyed. The hailstorm destroyed all agriculture and horticulture crops in several villages, and people thronged the shrine to seek Allah’s mercy. People used to offer Salat-ul-Istigfar for the rains to stop in the historic Eidgah and Makhdoom Sahab shrine by organizing community kitchens and Tehri cooked by Kashmiri chefs. Several mosques in the old city also held special prayers, and people distributed yellow rice, locally known as Tehri, on roads.
