Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has set a three-month deadline to install MRI scanning and dialysis units in Taluk and district hospitals as a part of his mission to strengthen the health system of the state through the National Health Mission. He took the state’s top Health Department officials to task over slackness in achieving the objective of the mission, which is reflected in the lack of specialized doctors and inadequate installation of MRI and dialysis machines in taluk and district hospitals. The Chief Minister also directed officials to appoint technicians to provide all these services and install MRI, scanning, and dialysis machines in all taluk hospitals within three months. Furthermore, he instructed officers to increase the salaries of doctors and fill up vacant posts. The Chief Minister has warned the authorities that they will be held responsible if the situation continues. The announcement came after reviewing the performance of Suvarna Arogya Suraksha Trust.
