Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has announced that tenants will receive the promised 200 units of free electricity under the Gruha Jyoti Scheme ahead of the 2023 Assembly elections. However, he made it clear that this does not only apply to those living in their own households. On Monday, Siddaramiah accused the BJP of encouraging misuse and extravagant use of free electricity up to 200 units. He also stated that the BJP is an anti-people party that looted the state when they were in power. Meanwhile, the Karnataka BJP unit is protesting against the government for not delivering on its five poll guarantees.
