Karnataka Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah has announced that the state budget will be tabled on July 7th, following the start of the Assembly session on July 3rd. The state cabinet has not yet discussed the budget, but the Chief Minister has stated that provisions will be made for the implementation of election campaign manifesto promises. The size of the budget is yet to be announced. On the topic of the anti-cow-slaughter law, the Chief Minister stated that the matter is to be discussed in the Cabinet following confusion over the lack of clarity of the existing legislation. Siddaramaiah added that he has instructed officials to prepare for the re-opening of Indira Canteens, which had previously closed due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
