Kansas Football Announces $300M Stadium Renovation, Fueling Excitement for Future
The University of Kansas football program has recently announced plans for a massive renovation of the David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium and its surrounding area. The project, estimated to cost over $300 million, is expected to be completed by the 2025 college football season. The university has already managed to raise an impressive $165 million for the stadium renovation, entirely through donations, without relying on any general state or university funds. To cover any remaining costs, the university may consider issuing bonds, which would be repaid using future stadium revenue.
During the renovation process, Kansas football will continue to play at David Booth Memorial Stadium, though the capacity of the stadium may be temporarily reduced in 2024. The construction is set to begin in December 2023 and will be managed by Turner Construction Company.
