Kano State Governor’s Sacking Upheld in Landmark Judgement, APC Celebrates Victory

The Court of Appeal has delivered a landmark judgement, upholding the decision of the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal in Kano State, which ousted Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of the New Nigeria People Party (NNPP). This development has been celebrated by the All Progressive Congress (APC), as it signifies a victory for those affected by the demolition actions undertaken by Governor Yusuf’s administration.

In response to the ruling, Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas, the chairman of APC Kano State chapter, expressed his satisfaction, stating that the judgement is a clear indication that their party had won the election from the beginning. He further assured the residents of Kano State that the responsible government they desired has now returned, urging them not to be afraid as the judgement is here to stay.

Abbas specifically addressed the individuals who fell victim to the demolition carried out by the NNPP administration at Eid ground, Salanta, and other locations, assuring them that this victory is theirs, and their savior has arrived. He asserted that the people of Kano have no cause for worry anymore.

According to SaharaReporters, the Court of Appeal, sitting in Abuja, confirmed the tribunal’s verdict on Friday, announcing Nasiru Gawuna, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, as the rightful winner of the March 18, 2023 governorship election.

However, the APC chairman emphasized the importance of continued peaceful conduct among party supporters. It is imperative for them to contribute to the creation of a peaceful society.

Regarding the NNPP’s decision to challenge the ruling at the Supreme Court, Abbas expressed confidence in their ability to win the case, even in the highest court in the land. He attributed this confidence to the solid evidence they possess.

In conclusion, this triumph for the APC in Kano State marks a turning point in the political landscape. The Court of Appeal has upheld the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal’s ruling, deeming Nasiru Gawuna of the APC the rightful winner. As the NNPP takes the case to the Supreme Court, the APC remains optimistic about their chances of emerging victorious due to the compelling evidence at their disposal.
