Over 12,000 files related to various government schemes were destroyed in a fire that broke out at the Satpura Bhawan in Bhopal. The Madhya Pradesh government and the Centre both had files stored in the building. However, state Home Minister Narottam Mishra insisted that the data lost in the fire could be restored. At least 4,000 employees worked in the building, and alternative offices are being arranged until services can be reinstated. While the government claims the fire was caused by a short circuit, former Chief Minister Kamal Nath suggested it was an issue of corruption, calling for an inquiry into the incident through an independent agency.
