Longleng district in Nagaland has begun observing anti-malaria month, starting from June 11. The campaign, led by the office of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Longleng, aims to create awareness among locals regarding the signs and symptoms of malaria, preventive measures, and the correct usage of long-lasting insecticide nets (LLIN).
The team involved in the campaign includes DVBO, Dr. L Tia Imchen, district consultant, malaria inspector (MI), malaria technical supervisor (MTS), surveillance worker (SW), surveillance inspector (SI), and ASHA.
During the campaign, health officials will visit various blocks in Longleng district to interact with stakeholders and villagers. They will provide information regarding the availability of free testing and treatment in all health facilities, and the correct use of LLIN to prevent malaria.
The DVBO informed that Longleng district has not reported any malaria cases since 2019, and aims to maintain its negative status. To prevent the spread of malaria, disseminating IEC (Information, Education, and Communication) and BCC (Behavior Change Communication) materials are crucial for the anti-malaria campaign.
Additionally, a rehabilitation center in Tobu, established by the Nagaland government, has been helping addicts recover from their addiction and turn their lives around.
Through the combined efforts of the health department, government, and community, Longleng district in Nagaland is actively working towards reducing malaria cases and leading a healthier lifestyle.
