Smithfield, NC – The Johnston County Department of Social Services (DSS) has appointed Ben Rose as the interim director following the retirement of Scott Sabatino on September 1. With a wealth of knowledge and experience, Rose previously served as the Director of Social Services in Durham County.

Scott Sabatino had been in the director’s position since 2018. During his tenure, he was paid an annual salary of $148,350, equivalent to $12,362.50 per month.
Ben Rose will assume his new role as interim director with a monthly salary of $10,313.33. This transition in leadership aims to ensure the smooth operation and delivery of essential services to the residents of Johnston County.
