Srinagar, Jan 15: The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (BOSE) has announced the date-sheet for the annual examinations of class 10th to 12th students in the soft zone areas of Jammu and Kashmir. The exams for class 10th students will commence from March 11 and conclude on April 3, while the exams for class 11th students will start on March 30 and end on April 25. Additionally, the exams for class 12th students will begin on March 6 and finish on March 28.

The date-sheet has been released to provide advance information to the students so that they can prepare accordingly. We have prepared the date sheet after considering all the aspects. We have kept a gap in papers of class 11th to avoid any clash with dates on the eve of Eid. Even if there are any issues, a student-friendly decision will be taken in this regard, said Lal Hussain, Joint Secretary Examination.

The date-sheet for hard zone areas will be notified separately, and the examinations in these areas will commence immediately after the conclusion of the exams in the soft zone areas, as informed by Hussain.

The BOSE has already identified the soft and hard zone areas of the Jammu and Kashmir division. In the hard zones, which include areas like Kargil and Ladakh, a total of 444 schools have been identified. The hard zones comprise 309 schools in Jammu division and 135 schools in Kashmir division.

This year, the JKBOSE has taken a decision regarding the on-roll students of 60 private academic institutions of Kashmir operating on proprietary land with expired affiliations. The students of these institutions have been tagged with nearby government schools due to the failure of these private schools to furnish extension case files. The affiliation of these private academic institutions of Kashmir Division had expired, and the concerned managements did not submit the necessary case files for further extension with required certificates and safety documents.

The defaulter schools have been admonished not to enroll any students in classes 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th from the next academic session without securing formal affiliation and recognition from the JKBOSE and School Education Department.

It is worth mentioning that these private schools’ issues were previously highlighted by Greater Kashmir, shedding light on the schools built on state land that were denied the release of registration forms for class 10th students. The JKBOSE justified its decision, citing the failure of the concerned private schools to submit the required case files for extension.

The date-sheet announcement by the JKBOSE will provide clarity and allow students to plan their exam preparations accordingly. The board’s efforts to ensure a smooth examination process and accommodate student needs are commendable. With the upcoming examinations, students can now focus on their studies and work towards achieving their academic goals.
