J&K Sports Council Organizes Azadi Ka Khel Utsav in Celebration of Independence Day
(Srinagar) – The J&K Sports Council has organized the ‘Azadi Ka Khel Utsav’ as part of the Independence Day celebrations in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The special sports activities, held since the 9th of this month, aim to pay tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the nation and raise awareness about their supreme sacrifice.
Various sports events were organized across Jammu and Kashmir, ensuring massive participation from athletes and sports enthusiasts. The Sports Council meticulously planned and executed the activities, ensuring they aligned with the scheduled calendar to commemorate the Independence Week celebrations.
The celebrations kicked off with the ‘Tiranga Rally,’ which was flagged off by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. The rally commenced at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre and culminated at the Botanical Garden on the banks of Dal Lake. The Sports Council contingent, led by Nuzhat Gull, Secretary of the J&K Sports Council, comprised hundreds of trainees, athletes, national-level champions, and international medalists.
During the rally’s conclusion at the Botanical Garden, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha interacted with the athletes. He emphasized that the ‘Azadi Ka Khel Utsav’ campaign should unite individuals and expressed confidence in the unwavering dedication of the people to partake in this monumental celebration.
Expressing gratitude to the participants, Secretary of the J&K Sports Council, Nuzhat Gull, praised the enthusiasm displayed by the trainees and staff members during the Tiranga rally. She highlighted that the rally symbolizes the unity and diversity of the nation, reminding everyone of their collective responsibility to uphold the values represented by the national flag. Gull accentuated the importance of marching with unwavering pride and patriotism as they celebrate the spirit of the Tricolor.
Divisional Sports Officer Muzaffar Hussain Wani hailed the Tiranga rally as an opportunity to demonstrate unwavering commitment and patriotism towards the country. He expressed pride in being part of an event that symbolizes unity, diversity, and the spirit of patriotism.
