J&K SIA, a state investigation agency, has obtained a restriction order on Jamaat-e-Islami (J&K) properties worth Rs 3 crore in Kupwara district. The District Magistrate of Kupwara has restricted entry and usage to the properties on the agency’s recommendation in an effort to restrict funding for secessionist activities and dismantle anti-national elements and militant networks hostile to India’s national security, sovereignty, integrity, and unity. The property, a shopping complex comprising 20 shops, has been sealed and entry/usage has been prohibited. This is just one of the 57 properties of JEI notified by SIA Kashmir so far, and 188 properties are currently being investigated for further legal action. This step is expected to significantly impact militant funding in J&K and is another major step in restoring the rule of law and a society without fear.
