J&K Police Arrest 3 TRF Terror Associates Planning Attacks in Srinagar

Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], August 5 (ANI): The Jammu and Kashmir Police have successfully apprehended three terror associates associated with the banned terrorist organization, The Resistance Front (TRF), an offshoot of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). The arrests took place in the Natipora area of Srinagar. The police have stated that the trio was in the process of planning and executing terrorist activities in the city.

During the operation, the police seized a significant cache of weapons and ammunition that belonged to the arrested individuals. The recovered items include three hand grenades, 10 pistol rounds, 25 AK-47 rounds, and other incriminating materials.

The Srinagar Police, operating as a small team, conducted the arrests. The arrested terrorists have been identified as Imran Ahmad Najar, a resident of Bulbul Bagh, Baramulla; Waseem Ahmad Matta, a resident of Qamarwari, Srinagar; and Wakeel Ahmad Bhat from Pazalpora, Bijbehara.

The police set up a checkpoint at Hannibal Natipora based on a tip-off, leading to the successful apprehension of the trio. Notably, Wakeel Ahmad Bhat was previously an active terrorist affiliated with the proscribed terrorist organization, Islamic State Jammu and Kashmir (ISJK). However, he had been in jail for the past two years before being recently released on bail from Central Jail.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that the arrested individuals had acquired explosives and ammunition from active terrorists associated with TRF, intending to utilize these resources for conducting terrorist activities within Srinagar city.

A case has been registered against the three terror associates under various sections of the Explosives Act, the Arms Act, and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act at the Chanapora police station. Additional investigations into the matter are currently underway.

This successful operation by the Jammu and Kashmir Police is a significant blow to the TRF and its nefarious activities. By apprehending these terror associates and seizing their cache of weapons, the police have undoubtedly mitigated potential threats to security in Srinagar. The diligent efforts and swift action of the Srinagar Police are commendable, reflecting their unwavering commitment to maintaining law and order in the region.

As investigations progress, it is crucial for the authorities to uncover any potential additional links or networks associated with TRF that may pose threats to the safety and security of the people. The fight against terrorism requires continued vigilance and collaborative efforts between law enforcement agencies and the community. Together, they can thwart any malicious intentions and safeguard the peace and well-being of the region.

This incident serves as a reminder of the persistent challenges faced by security forces in the Jammu and Kashmir region, as they remain at the forefront in combating terrorism and maintaining public safety. The relentless pursuit of peace and stability in the region is crucial for the overall development and progress of Jammu and Kashmir, and all efforts must be made to uphold these objectives.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police’s successful operation sends a strong message to those involved in terrorist activities that they will not be able to operate with impunity. The security forces remain resolute in their mission to protect innocent lives and preserve the sanctity of democratic values.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police, along with other security agencies, will undoubtedly continue their relentless efforts to ensure the safety and security of the people, leaving no room for any disruptive elements. The people can take solace in the fact that their security is of paramount importance, and every step will be taken to maintain peace and harmony across the region.
