Jets’ Zach Wilson Benched Again as Catastrophic Season Hits New Low

The New York Jets’ quarterback Zach Wilson found himself on the bench for the second time this season after another disappointing performance. The Jets’ catastrophic season reached new depths on Sunday evening as they suffered a 32-6 defeat to the Buffalo Bills.

Wilson has struggled to produce ever since he stepped up as the team’s starter, particularly after star quarterback Aaron Rodgers was sidelined with an injury in Week One. The former No.2 pick was replaced by Tim Boyle, an NFL journeyman, with just over two minutes remaining in the game.

In this latest game, Wilson completed only 7 of 15 passes for 81 yards, throwing one touchdown and an interception. However, the numbers alone do not fully capture the story of his forgettable performance. Early in the second quarter, Wilson embarrassed himself by falling over while backpedaling onto the field, which set the tone for the rest of the game.

To make matters worse, Wilson then collided with his head coach, Robert Saleh. While trying to evade pressure, Wilson scrambled out to his right and ended up colliding with Saleh, knocking the Jets head coach to the ground.

Following this disappointing game, the Jets now face the dilemma of deciding whether Wilson should retain his place as the starter when they take on the Miami Dolphins in Week 12. Saleh refused to reveal his decision but admitted that Wilson has to get better as his future with the Jets hangs in the balance.

Saleh pointed out that it is not solely Wilson’s fault, as there are missed protections, dropped balls, and missed routes by other players on the offense. However, he emphasized that Wilson needs to improve and take accountability for his own performance, especially considering that he didn’t complete a single pass to a wide receiver during the game.

Wilson himself expressed his frustration but understood why the decision to bench him was made. He acknowledged that scoring and being competitive in games are critical, and if consecutive games result in offensive stagnation, changes have to be made. He recognized his own role in the team’s struggles and emphasized the need for accountability.

In a separate report, it was mentioned that Aaron Rodgers, the Jets’ star quarterback who was injured in the first game of the season, is eyeing a return on Christmas Eve after tearing his Achilles. This potential comeback could provide a glimmer of hope for the struggling Jets.

Overall, the Jets’ catastrophic season continues to hit new lows, and the decision of whether to stick with Wilson or make further changes remains uncertain.
