Jamie Carragher has expressed his concern about Manchester City’s midfielder Bernardo Silva potentially leaving to join a club in Saudi Arabia. The Portugal international, who has helped his current club win multiple trophies, is considered one of the best attacking players in Europe. According to Spanish newspaper, Marca, there is an increasing possibility that Silva may join players such as Ruben Neves, Hakim Ziyech, Kalidou Koulibaly, and Edouard Mendy in a move to Saudi Arabia. However, Carragher believes that the Saudi League taking players in their prime years would be a game-changer, indicating the need to stop sports washing activity. Gary Neville, also a Sky Sports pundit, has called on the Premier League to stop the transfer of players to Saudi Arabia until it’s clear that the integrity of the game is not at risk. While it appears Silva is edging closer to a move to Saudi Arabia, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano insists that the Portuguese is yet to make a final decision regarding his future and claims that French champions Paris Saint-Germain have made him a priority target. However, Saudi clubs are also expressive of their interest in Silva. Although, Barcelona is unlikely to sign Silva due to Financial Fair Play restrictions.
