International Flight Operations from Jaipur’s Terminal 1 to Begin in October
Jaipur: After a wait of over a decade, Terminal 1 of Jaipur International Airport will start functioning from October this year. Officials said international flight services will be operated from this terminal. At present, Hajj flights are being operated from Terminal 1.
The necessary infrastructure has been prepared. Currently, Hajj flights are being operated from here and arrival of Hajj flights are scheduled between July 4-11 July from Terminal 1 itself, said an airport official on Sunday.
The airport administration has developed state-of-the-art facilities here, including new X-ray machines, baggage handling system, and conveyor belts. A car parking with a capacity of more than 200 has been developed in the outer of Terminal 1. The airport office and CISF office will operate from the first floor of the terminal, while passengers will move from the ground floor, added the official.
In the first phase, the airport administration will operate international flights from here. Movement of non-scheduled flights will also be operated from here. At this terminal, about 70 CISF personnel will be deployed for security.
At the new two-storey building at Jaipur International Airport, eight counters for customs department have been set up, 10 counters for immigration in the departure area, 10 check-in counters for different airlines, and two boarding gates on the ground floor for passengers.
Last year, too, Hajj flights were operated from Terminal 1 of Jaipur International Airport, which served as a trial for regular flight operations.
Terminal 1 of Jaipur International Airport had shut down operations in 2012, after which renovation work was carried out over the years by Airports Authority of India.
Officials said the renovation work was delayed in the past three years due to the Covid pandemic. After almost ten years, operations from Terminal 1 are set to start this year, after missing several deadlines.
