Another Israeli min. calls for wiping Palestinians off from Gaza
Israel’s Heritage Minister Amichai Eliyahu has joined two other radical ministers in making outrageous calls to forcibly displace Palestinians from Gaza, despite the devastating toll of relentless attacks that have killed over 22,000 people, the majority of whom are women and children.
Eliyahu, known for his extremist views against Palestinians, expressed his belief that Israel must shatter the national dream of the Palestinians, stating, and that’s what we must do.
The far-right politician remarked that since the Palestinians slaughtered us on Oct. 7, so they must not be there [in Gaza].
We must find ways for Gazans that are more painful than death, he added.
In a previous statement, Eliyahu even suggested that dropping a nuclear bomb on the Gaza Strip is an option.
Numerous countries have swiftly rejected the calls made by Israeli officials, including National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, to push Palestinians out of the blockaded enclave.
Saudi Arabia has urged the international community to take action in response to the Israeli government’s persistent violation of international law through its statements and actions.
Qatar, which played a mediating role in the temporary truce between Israel and the Palestinian resistance group Hamas in November, condemned the comments made by the two ministers, expressing its strongest disapproval.
In a statement released by Qatar’s foreign ministry, they stated, The policy of collective punishment and forced displacement practiced by the occupation authorities against the inhabitants of Gaza will not change the fact that Gaza is Palestinian land and will remain Palestinian.
Kuwait has also joined its Gulf neighbors in condemning Israeli plans to displace not only Gaza residents but also the Palestinian people in general, issuing a stern warning.
Furthermore, the United States, France, and the European Union have expressed their disapproval of these comments made by Israeli officials.
The United Nations rights body has also voiced distress over the remarks, with U.N. human rights chief Volker Türk stating his deep concern regarding the calls for Palestinians to leave the besieged territory.
Both the French and German foreign ministries have criticized the outrageous statements made by Israeli government officials.
The conflict between Israel and Gaza intensified on Oct. 7 after a cross-border attack by Hamas. Since then, at least 22,600 Palestinians have been killed, with an additional 57,910 injured, according to Gaza’s health authorities. The incursion by Hamas has also resulted in the death of approximately 1,200 Israelis.
The ongoing onslaught has left Gaza in ruins, with 60% of its infrastructure damaged or destroyed. Nearly 2 million residents have been displaced, enduring acute shortages of food, clean water, and medicine.
Despite international condemnation and calls for a peaceful resolution, these calls for forced displacement by Israeli officials remain concerning, further exacerbating an already dire situation.
As the international community grapples with the repercussions of this ongoing conflict, the need for a peaceful and just resolution cannot be overstated. The plight of innocent civilians, particularly women and children, must remain at the forefront of any discussions or negotiations moving forward.
The issues at hand extend beyond political posturing, emphasizing the need for empathy, understanding, and a commitment to justice. It is crucial for all parties involved to engage in meaningful dialogue and seek a path that ensures the safety, security, and well-being of all individuals affected by this enduring conflict.
