Israeli Documentary ‘Uvda’ Nominated for International Emmy Award
Israeli documentary Uvda (Fact) has received a nomination for an International Emmy Award. The film, directed by Israeli filmmaker Itay Engel, provides a compelling account of the Russia-Ukraine war, capturing the scenes of fighting on film. Engel closely followed Ukrainian troops outside of Kyiv, showcasing their courage and resilience in the face of invasion.
Competing against films from the UK, Brazil, and Turkey in the Current Affairs category, Uvda will represent Israel in the award competition. The International Emmy Awards, hosted by the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (IATAS), recognize excellence in non-American film and television. This year marks the 44th edition of the News & Documentary International Emmy Awards. The ceremony will take place in New York on September 27th.
Described as a report on resilience and hope, Uvda documents the Ukrainian people’s fight for survival against the Russian invasion. Itay Engel and photographer Eddie Gerald spent weeks in Kyiv, capturing the spirit of Ukraine’s resistance.
Among the films competing with Uvda is Exposure: The Crossing by David Modell Productions from the UK. The Brazilian film GloboNews Documentário: Abrigo – Inocentes sob ataque by GLOBONEWS, and Off The Grid – Ukraine Wartime Diaries by TRT WORLD from Turkey will also vie for the award.

The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, a membership-based organization comprising media and entertainment figures from over 60 countries, aims to acknowledge excellence across various sectors of television.
As Uvda competes for the coveted International Emmy Award, the documentary stands as a testament to the power of storytelling and the importance of recognizing outstanding non-American productions.
