Israel Expresses Strong Opposition to UN Resolution Calling for Humanitarian Truce in Gaza

Israel has fiercely criticized a United Nations resolution that urges a humanitarian truce between Israeli forces and Hamas in Gaza, describing it as a dark day for the UN and mankind. The resolution was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly with 120 votes in favor, 14 against, and 45 abstentions. Israel’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Gilad Erdan, expressed his disappointment over the decision, stating that it prioritizes the defense of Nazi terrorists over the safety of Israeli civilians.

Erdan emphasized that Israel will continue to defend itself and utilize all available means to protect its citizens. He accused the majority of the UN community of favoring Hamas and neglecting the law-abiding state of Israel. Erdan argued that those truly interested in preventing violence should call upon Hamas to disarm, surrender, and release all hostages, as this would immediately bring an end to the conflict.

The Israeli representative stressed that the UN has lost its legitimacy and relevance, failing to fulfill its founding purpose of preventing atrocities. He lamented the fact that the resolution did not mention Hamas, the group responsible for the recent hostilities and terrorist attacks against Israel. Erdan asserted that Israel has the right to defend itself and eradicate Hamas’s capabilities to prevent future atrocities, claiming that Hamas and Hezbollah would repeat their acts of violence until there are no Israelis left.

Erdan accused Hamas of using Gazan civilians as human shields, operating from within densely populated areas, and even establishing a base in Gaza’s Shifa Hospital. He criticized the international community for not holding Hamas accountable for its actions. The Israeli representative questioned the motivations behind the resolution, suggesting that its goal is to hinder Israel’s ability to defend itself against Hamas.

In conclusion, Israel has expressed its strong opposition to the UN resolution calling for a humanitarian truce in Gaza. Israel will continue to take action to protect its citizens, eradicate Hamas’s capabilities, and ensure the safety of its people. Despite international criticism, Israel maintains that it has the right to defend itself against terrorist attacks and prevent future atrocities.
