Iran Submits Indictment for US Assassin of General Soleimani

TEHRAN – The indictment for the assassination of Iranian anti-terror commander Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani has been submitted to the court, according to a top Iranian Judiciary official. Abbas-Ali Kadkhodaei, the head of a special committee following up on General Soleimani’s murder case, announced the submission during a meeting discussing the legal aspects of the martyred commander’s killing by the United States. Kadkhodaei emphasized the significance of General Soleimani and his dedication to defending oppressed people in the region. He stressed the legitimacy of General Soleimani’s actions in fighting terrorism and condemned the United States’ assassination as illegitimate. The indictment has been formally presented to the court, which is currently handling the case. General Soleimani was assassinated in a U.S. drone strike near Baghdad International Airport in January 2020 under the order of then-U.S. President Donald Trump.
