Iran has lauded the efforts made by Saudi Arabia to organize the Hajj season and serve pilgrims. Foreign Ministry spokesman, Nasser Kanaani, praised the kingdom’s efforts to organize the Hajj and stated that the ministry is in regular contact with the Iranian mission in Saudi Arabia to follow up on the affairs of Iranian pilgrims. He expressed hope that this year’s Hajj season would be held in the best possible way to enhance unity among the people of the Islamic nation and that all pilgrims would return to their countries in good health.

The Iranian official’s statements come at a time when relations between Riyadh and Tehran are improving, following the resumption of diplomatic relations between the two countries after a seven-year estrangement since 2016. Kanaani stated that the diplomatic service had made continuous efforts so that Iranian pilgrims could attend the Hajj at the specified time. Fortunately, with good cooperation from Saudi officials, the services for pilgrims from Iran were satisfactory. The foreign minister also made efforts in this regard.

The Hajj is one of the most significant Islamic events globally, with millions travelling every year to Mecca, Islam’s holiest site. The pilgrimage is an opportunity for Muslims worldwide to show unity and devotion as they perform several rituals for several days. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia manages and controls access to the country for all pilgrims coming to take part in the event.

The improving relations between the two countries will make it easier for Iranian pilgrims to take part in the Hajj season. The agreement between Iran and Saudi Arabia to resume diplomatic relations was seen as a significant step forward in bringing stability to the region. This year’s Hajj season will bring together people from different backgrounds and cultures and offer an opportunity for Muslims to stand united in faith. It is hoped that this event, with its enormous scale, will be held without any glitches and provide a meaningful experience for all pilgrims.
