The Iowa Hawkeyes have set their sights on rising shooting guard Kelvin Odih from Rhode Island Elite. The Hawkeye coaching staff has expanded their recruiting efforts to the New England region, and they recently extended an offer to Odih for the 2025 class. The 6-foot-4, 190-pound guard has been turning heads this summer, garnering attention from multiple college programs.

Since June 16, Odih has received offers from Albany, Marquette, Rhode Island, Xavier, Penn State, George Mason, and Iowa. He also holds an offer from Sacred Heart. His impressive performances last season earned him the title of MaxPreps Rhode Island High School Basketball Player of the Year. Odih played a crucial role in leading LaSalle Academy to a state championship, averaging 19.1 points, 11.4 rebounds, and 3.2 blocked shots per game.

Odih’s standout performance in the state title victory over Hendricken caught the attention of WPRI 12 News, which featured him in their Hometown Hero segment. Reflecting on the win, Odih expressed his satisfaction at the team’s triumph and attributed their success to a great collective effort.

Looking ahead, Odih has big aspirations for his future in basketball. He desires to maximize his potential and become the best version of himself on and off the court. The young guard’s former coach, Mike McParlin, commended his work ethic and dedication to the sport, emphasizing that Odih’s motivation stems from wanting to provide for his family.

Odih will be making the move to South Kent School in Connecticut for the upcoming year, where he will play under the guidance of renowned coach Raphael Chillious. With a decorated coaching career that includes mentoring NBA talents like Jack McClinton, Dorell Wright, and Isaiah Thomas, Chillious is expected to further mold Odih’s skills.

In summary, Kelvin Odih’s meteoric rise in the basketball world has attracted the attention of numerous colleges, including the Iowa Hawkeyes. The shooting guard’s impressive performances, accolades, and undeniable potential make him an enticing prospect for any program. As Odih prepares to continue his basketball journey at South Kent School, all eyes will be on his development and future accomplishments.
