No officers seriously hurt in parking ramp shooting
SIOUX CITY — The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation is probing an officer-involved shooting at the parking ramp of the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino after an incident that occurred early Monday morning. Fortunately, no officers sustained serious injuries.
According to Sioux City Community Policing Sgt. Tom Gill, one officer did suffer minor injuries in the incident, but the injuries were not deemed serious. Gill, however, refrained from disclosing any additional information regarding the shooting. The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation is leading the investigation, and a joint release of information will be issued in due course.
The shooting transpired at approximately 4 a.m. in the parking ramp, which is situated at 205 Pearl St. Amidst the investigation, several yellow evidence markers were noticed on the pavement inside the parking ramp while a dark blue truck labeled Crime Scene Unit from the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation was stationed on the street near the entrance of the ramp.
As per a statement released by the police department on Monday morning, the parking ramp will remain closed until the investigation is concluded. The public is advised to avoid the area until further notice.
